Yahoo news is showing that there are actually people still searching for Noah's ark, who actually believe that the story is true.
One would think that the Christian church, if no one else, would go and explain to these people that we KNOW the story, at best, is a parable.
The story of Noah's ark is not only impossible, but we KNOW its origin. Even the church admits this. How are people in this day and age still capable of wasting resources on something so silly?
I mean seriously... there needs to be a stupidity police somewhere, to point these things out to people!

Yes, "you asked". It does bother me. So does schizophrenia, dementia, addictive personality, and other mental disorders.
It concerns me very much.

americangirl... uhm... yes, I'm aware of the SUMERIAN text called the Epic of Gilgamesh. Apparently, however, you are not aware that this is a pagan mythology, that references a sun god. It was "published" nearly 6000 years before the christian bible, and is just another example of how Christianity cannibalized pagan mythology, and condensed it into one generic religion, worshipping one god that the Romans could use to coerce their pagan victims into adopting. My space here is scarce. But if you really want to understand this... read the epic yourself. I think you'll find that it's quite clear what the origins of this story are. Whether there was a flood in Iraq or not... it has little to do with the Christian version of how and why it happened. Good luck with your research.

How in the hell do people know what happened thousands of years ago and further more, does it matter? There is no factual proof or evidence that what happened in the bible didn't happen. Were you there? Most of the outrageous stories are parables and for the ones that aren't parables, who are we to say they didn't happen? Believe what you want. I'll be damned if I'm gonna have some prick scientist tell me what Jesus looked like or that there is no god.

Well, even though the Noah's Ark portrayed in the Bible is probably not entirely "factual correct", that's not to say there may not be some grain of truth in the story that inspired the biblical version.
There may of been a guy named Noah that built a big ship and put some animals on it...

Your arrogance is exceeded only by your lack of knowledge.
They have found something on Mt Ararat in Turkey. The Turkish government has stopped any further investigation. Their reason? My guess is they a) know it would be a boon to Christianity and a bust for Islam; or
b) they are trying figure out how they can overcome a) above and make a buck off of it.

Have you closed your mind off to the possibility that with God, anything is possible? Perhaps some people just require a little more tangible proof to base their faith on, but that is not for you to judge them.
There is actually a Sammarian epic written 1000 years before the Bible, called the Epic of Gilgamesh that tells of a great flood. If two ancient books tell of this great flood, is it not possible that the incident happened?

What Christian church ever made a claim that Noah's Ark was not true? What has the church admitted to? The veracity Noah's Ark, to my understanding has never been disproven. I'd be curious to see any verifiable sources for any information that claims otherwise.

Some people, specially nowadays, think they need to "prove" the existence of their God. They feel threaten by modern discoveries and fear that God might not exist if Noah's Ark is not real, or if Humans were not created by God, but actually evolved from other species.

Yes, it is absolutely appalling - it's the same mind-set that took 359 years to fully admit that the earth is *not* the center of the Universe. The Ark should be labeld as false and the ToE as true, forthwith. ... To: "You Asked": TRUTH MATTERS! A Lot!

Because I disdain copy-and-paste answers, I'd like to direct "true believers" in the ark nonsense to this well-expressed argument as to why the ark couldn't possibly have ever existed (at least not as the bible describes it):

Correction: they showed what they thought could be origins of the story. They don't really know.
And since when is archeology stupid???? Studying the bible as it relates to factual information helps us better understand the bible. And there are geologish who claim they found a great flood line in the ground.
