No.
I would sit back and tell all of the Democrats that I have already served - now it is their turn.

You probably asked this Question with the best of intentions, but it should be fairly clear to you now that the American public is no longer united by anything other than perhaps apathy and most people are far more willing to say "You First" when it comes to military service. Hence, the good number of combative and stupid replies so far.
You need to acknowledge that in this day and age, cynicism is deep-rooted and patriotism is short-lived. Ignorance on both ends of the political spectrum is rife. No one wants to take on structural problems in society or government. The United States was attacked on 9/11 (and long before that) and all people can do is scream "The Government Lied To Us" or point fingers at one or more perceived enemies.
I would not comply with a draft. I would volunteer. I already did volunteer, and I'm staying in service, in one capacity or another, til the war comes to a conclusion or I just can't give it my all anymore.
Good luck when you pick up your commission. Lead your men well.

I'm a 60 year old Marine and served 67-68 in Vietnam but if they needed me I 'd serve again.
I would NEVER stand still and do nothing if our Nation was invaded. In fact I've said before on this site that Bush claims we are at war with the radical extremists, terrorists, and yet nothing has been done here at home to convince us that is true. There should be a home front army made up of men like myself. Sure we're old but many of us can still fight if needed. The NATIONAL GUARD has become the International Guard and I feel that the Bush Administration should be brought to task for the rape of armed forces from the home front!!

There is no way in Hell that any country in their right mind would think, let me rephrase that dream about attacking America on its own soil with military. that would be like the no armed no legged guy trying to pick a fight with chuck norris its just ridiculous. Ok ill give you a just maybe, lets just say that a country somehow got soldiers on our soil what army is big enough to have half a fighting chance against our military, WHO china?? if China tried to attack us... HAHAHAH they are all under 5'5" one of our soldiers could take on two of theirs. And lets not even get started on Iraq or Iran or whatever Terrorist dirtbag bombplanting scum of the earth, if they tried to invade us where would they hide. They couldnt hide in our homes. if one of those Dirtbags tried to get in my home or any of my rednecks home weve probably got more guns than they do and we know how to use them. My little sisters could take on a couple of them with her 12 Gauge mossburg even im scared of her with that boomstick. So there is no way in Gods beautiful green earth that there is going to be an invasion from an unforeseen enemy. The only war that is gonna be on our soil is if the South decides to rise again. and us yankees are gonna have to put them in their place again. GOD bless our troops

When there was draft before, I complied. I would do so again.
However, I also actively protested the Viet Nam war as I do the invasion and occupation of Iraq.

Has been on my mind from time to time
Had a legitimate medical deferrement during the Vietnam era.
Also my draft lottery # was over 300.
Ready to go if drafted, but would not have been thrilled.
In a legitimate war ( like WWll) based on an attack on US soil by a hostile nation ,I would join in a heartbeat.

Heck, yeah. We live in a world that is so war torn and here in the United States, people do not fully understand that. Even after 9-11, some people do not grasp why we did what we did. I want my children and their families to have what I have. So many of us take our rights and freedom for granite...and others just throw it all away. I am proud to be from America and proud of what we stand for. I have already served in the military twice before (active and reserves) and will do it again. We need to get off of our high horses and look upon ourselves as to whom we really are. We are a country full of rich history (both good and bad) and we should uphold all that our forefathers started.

Ask the republicans that are making money by being the biggest war profiteers if they would volunteer to be on the very front lines? I would bet you don't even get an answer back from them!

I have already served in the Navy (USS JASON AR-8) and did a couple of years in the Army (3rd Battalion 160th Infantry Unit), and I would gladly volunteer for service if need be.

If the United States was attacked would you volunteer for military service?
The United States /has/ been attacked. Sadly, I'm too old to serve.
What if there was a draft? Would you comply?
No, not even if they were drafting people my age.
The way I see it, volunteering to fight for freedom makes sense, being enslaved to figh for freedom doesn't.

Do you mean if a foriegn army actually came on our soil? If they did you wouldn't need an army with all the weapons regular citizens have. They'd be wasted coming up any street in anytown in America.
