1. What does it matter if it has been asked before? I haven't asked it. I would like to know the answer.
2. Sorry to burst your bubble, but the Sun is nowhere close to being the center of the universe.

3. There's no evidence to support an intelligent creator. Until there is, I find no reason to believe on exists.

4. I haven't had a chance to research your Gap Theory yet, but it simply sounds like manipulation of the truth. "Oh well, you see, we weren't really wrong, we just mistranslated it. Praise God, he was right after all!"

So if everything is questionable if its accurate, how does this make it fit for worship? This sort of validates my question doesn't it?

I would have to know which scientific discovery disagrees with the Bible in order to make an assessment on what you are talking about. So far, as with Galileo, what science has found disturbed tradition, not Biblical teaching. I would take that to mean that God makes sure that He clarifies His word by shaking things up, destroying the traditions of man in favor of truth. As humans found out, the Earth is not the center of everything else, and God knew this, but who persecuted Galileo? The Roman Catholic Church has that dishonor.

It wasn't Christianity, but it was that one church that had the power and authority to harm others for believing something against thier tradition.

And we have the same thing now, albeit less violent with Paleontology. We have all kinds of evidence in fossils and such to show that the Earth has been around for a lot longer than tradition says. So although we have many who still do not believe this, the fact remains that we have fossils of things that once lived that defy tradition. But when I as a Christian look deeper in the Bible, I find that tradition is demonstrated by how the translators translated the Bible. Hebrew for instance has words that can mean more than what tradition allows. The oldest English translations seem to want to translate Genesis 1:2 only one way. You can see that if you look at different English translations at that verse. But if you look at those words in Hebrew, you can just as likely translate the Earth going through a destruction; "and the Earth became a waste and a desolation."

So again, I have evidence of the Earth being older than tradition would allow according to the Bible.

You can check it out yourself. Do a Google search on 'The Gap Theory of Genesis 1:1 - 1:2'. You will find many references that are denying the truth of the theory. But there are the fossils, all too well known, in the order that they appear in the strata, and a verse in the Bible which can say something that tradition doesn't want to admit.

EDIT: It's not the only theory in the Bible called a Gap Theory. But the Gap theory of Genesis 1:1 - 1:2 is more precise. As to your doubting it as a first reaction; you are acting like those who lived so many years ago when Galileo's finding was presented. I'm not knocking you, it's human nature to resist change. I also know that people who deny the existence of God tend to want to deny the Bible's validity. It's axiomatic after all.

But yes, check it out, it's there for any that look. You don't have to believe to acknowledge that there is a theory out there. lol

EDITED TO ANSWER YOUR SUPPLIMENTAL QUESTIONS:
1. It didn't to me.
2. Since we don't know how far the universe goes, how would we know that? Not that I'm refuting you, and the possibility would be astronomical, but how do we know that?
3. I think that you mean that YOU don't have any evidence to support an intelligent creator.
4. That's what the other Christians say. But the option to translate it other than the traditional way is there nonetheless. Hebrew is like English, where one word can mean more than one thing.

To your last statement: I'm really nor sure what you mean. Worship is a contraction of two words--- Worth Ship. Practicing worship is a statement in a system of value. I really think that the Gap Theory we are discussing has nothing to do with my worth ship of God through Jesus Christ. To me, this is a sort of execise in mental mastrubation, with a bit of truth in God's word added in. In that I can trust Him. But to bring up worship within this discussion, well, I find it a non sequitor.

I dont agree that Biblical writings disagree with Scientific discovery...The bible says the earth hangs upon nothing...the earth is a sphere, sun is in the center of the universe among other stuff that Science later on discovered and proved. What actually contradicts the bible is philosophy which the fundamental religious clergy mixed with their 'so-called' believes...remember Galileo Galilei??? a scientist who went against the teachings of the church but he was actually telling the truth to which both bible and science agrees...

Biblical writings correspond with secular history...the bible actually predicted the rise of powerful leaders as Cyrus of PErsia, Alexander the Great of Macedonia during the time of Nebuchadnezzar (Book of Daniel)...these people were documented in history as actual people.
