Before you consider protein or no protein, its important to be doing weight training to make good of the protein you will be intaking. Don't worry about the fact that there are calories, although it may be best to find a protein supplement that is more straight protein instead of specifically a "gainer."
The calories of protein are a measurement of its energy, and will not be used by your body in the same way as calories of fat or carbs if you use those muscles the protein is meant for. Lift weights and do some sort of physical activity you enjoy, and take some protein before and after you work out to build more muscle mass. Muscle burns fat from doing anaerobic exercise like lifting and burns carbs by doing aerobic exercise like running or biking. Increase the amoung of muscle in your body and it will burn the fat for you. Remember, what you eat at all times is important, 90% of your success will come from diet, so eat good healthy foods.
The only other thing that is equally imporant is to learn as much as possible. Check out a fitness site, I like bodybuilding.com, and learn everything you can about health and fitness. It will energize you and make your goals seem completely attainable whatever they are.

well, your body can only process so much protein in one day. (about 75 g), so more protein than that is a waste of money whether you're working out or not. it's not like the more protein you take the bigger your muscles getyour body doesn't use protein for energy (that's what carbs and fats are for). instead of trying to bulk up with the proteins, try losing the fat before you start bulking.
try a colon cleanse product - this will start cleaning the toxins out of your body and will help to flatten your abs. CLA (conjugated linoleic acid - available at the vitamin store) is a fatty acid that helps your body to stop storing fat and helps your body eliminate fat. try also a combination of amino acid supplements - acetyl-l-carnitine is a good one to start - it transports fats. ornithine, arginine, and lysine come combined as a supplement. used a lot by body builders for builnd muscle.
stay away from creatine supplements - they make you retain water and do almost nothing in terms of grwoing muscle or boosting your energy.
if your heart, blood pressure are good you might try a "thermogenic" supplement. these have herbs and other compounds that get you kind of "speedy". the people at the nutrition/vitamin store can help you pick one out.
ginseng is an awesome herb - take at least 3g/day. a lot of body-building supplements have ginseng in them. garlic is another herb that helps to eliminate fats from your body. green tea can also boost your metabloism. coffee is good too. never underestimate or ignore the benefits of taking herbs to help you with your fitness goals. try a web search to learn more
and be sure to drink at least 2 quarts of water every day.
good luck!

Drink Whey protein shakes. Eat healthy and eliminate sugar, fattening foods, soda, and fast foods. Drink lots of water and have 3 meals and 3 snacks a day full of protein. Like my personal trainer told me before its not about working your abs everyday its about what you eat. And that is nothing but the truth. My mom is very petite but when she had my brother who is now 7 she had him at 39 your skin at 39 is not the same as someone who is 21. She stayed very squared, had love handles and a belly. Guess what she started eating healthy (stop eating white rice) having her 3 meals a day and 3 snacks and she's lost all of her love handles and belly she's lost 24lbs. Its incredible that when you gain weight thats the first place it goes too your love handles and your abs. Try to work out your stomach every other day and if your abs hurt dont work it out on that day always have a day in between to rest. Trust me it works. I am currently training and its soo working.

Calories are calories, if your calories are in excess to what you burn in energy it will be stored by your body as fat. Protein drinks also come in low calorie versions and there are some very high quality protein drinks that will help provide the boost you want. Try the web-site www.bodyandhealthessentials.com. They have some low-cal, high quality protein supplements that might interest you.

Protein drinks in combination with strength training, are ideal for building muscle. They can easily be included in a healthy diet becuase they are so filling (hence you eat less). So you really dont have to worry about the calories; just listen to your body and stop eating when you are full.
Another option: just have one protein drink, and get the rest of your protein from other low-cal sources, like eggs, lean meats, skim milk, lowfat cheese, light yogurt, etc.
I personally prefer Whey Protein. You can find it in health stores and its very filling!

Large stomach is caused by gravity pulling down your stomach muscles. Pull them back in by doing weightlifting.
One way that works very well is to pick up something heavy, bent over, elbows bent, knees bent, and HOLD the weight for 1 minute. This pulls in the stomach muscles.
Do every 3 days.
For protein, a daily can of white chicken breast, small, in water will give you the protein you need.

it all depends on how much you will be working out and how much protein you are already consuming. drinking three protein shakes a day is intended for serious athletes who need large amounts of protein to rebuild muscel after intense workouts and a large number of calories to stay energized. the average american already consumes more protein than needed, so unless you are vegetarian or vegan or will be working out a lot, I wouldn't think you would want to drink the shakes, especially considering that you are attempting to lose weight (ergo, you need to consume fewer calories). good luck with the weight loss and strength training.

Protein drinks are fine. Just make sure you remember that there are calories in them.
Don't forget to add a lot of water: That has no calories, and will fill up space so you don't feel as hungry.
Good luck!
