Hello.
So far I've decided that the pros to a college dorm are:
*being more active on campus
*able to make more friends
*save on gas money
*feel more independant.

The cons to a college dorm so far are:
*more expensive
*not able to see my friends from my hometown as often
*having to share a room with a stranger.

I'd appreciate any feedback, keeping in mind that I only live about an hour or so away from campus anyways, depending on the traffic at the time. Thank you so much!

It depends on how far away campus is from your house, assuming that you're looking for an apartment near campus. An hour drive each way is very inefficent and traffic could be pretty taxing before and after a day of school. I drive a half hour each way, and that is enough for me. If you know someone going to the same school and is staying in the dorms as well, you can request to be assigned a room with them. With current gas prices, it would probably cost you more to drive every day than to live on campus. Because you live somewhat close to campus, if you lived in a dorm you could drive home every weekend.

Some more pros living on campus is that you would all ready be there and not have to worry about driving to class in bad weather. Also, if you don't like getting up early you could take more time to get ready for class, because you would already be there. Also, you may not have to share a room with a stranger, because at some schools you may be able to get a single room. One con may be the distractions from others when you're trying to study or sleep.

If you can afford it, and you want to grow up and fully participate in campus life, live on campus. Unfortunately, commuters don't get the same kind of communal feeling as on-campus students.

You'll make new friends, and you will probably be sharing a room for the rest of your life anyway. It's good practice.

For me this is this: professional: Can incredibly concentration on examining with out distractions. No demanding roomates. not extra nasty foodstuff. extra advantageous area at homestead whilst in comparison with campus. Cons: won't see acquaintances as plenty off campus. in case you reside with father and mom you will no longer smash out with plenty once you lived on campus. won't keep plenty funds whilst residing on campus. I lived on campus for some years, and now in my final year i'm residing off campus because of the fact this is extra value-effective and maximum of my good acquaintances graduated besides. i do no longer might desire to tension plenty approximately commuting because of the fact my college has extra advantageous than one area, and that i'm rather close to to the two one.

Well, that depends on what kind of person you are. You have to remember that in college you are away from home but you can still talk to your home friends online and by calling them. Have you met your potential roommate yet? I, personally just graduated last December so I know about the college life...

I think the one that mostly stands out is the fact there are less distractions, resulting in better able to focus on studying.
