My neighbor behind me has 5 dogs that bark constantly. You are limited to 3 dogs in the city limits. They won't come to the door and don't have a phone listing. I have talked several times to Animal Control, the police, and even the mayor. The mayor has talked to them twice, but nothing has helped. The police won't do anything and the dog catcher is all but useless.

Make friends with the dogs. K9's are extremely sensitive, and if they know you are bothered by their barking, they'll tone it down.

Call the dog catcher and the animal control every day. They will do something if you annoy them as much as the dogs annoy you. Also you can send a registered letter to the neighbors. Tell them that you will sue them for health problems caused by your lack of sleep. They are maintaining a public nuisance. Call the zoning board. Keep after it.

I'm assuming there are noise ordinances where you are too. By all means, inform the mayor that someone is not doing their job. Certainly animal control should have acted: The one time I had to consult them about a dog who was trying to attack me, they did give the family a warning and leave a cage in the yard that the family had to keep the trouble-dog in.

You can always try throwing water at them, cold, not hot, water. Everytime they start to bark, to a small bucket or large glass of water at the one that is barking, or at the group. If all else fails, use your hose. If the neighbor complains, there is your chance to "talk" with him. But, don't be surprised if after awhile, when the dogs bark, and they see or hear you come out, they will stop and hide.. Good Luck!

well, since you got the mayor to go over there twice, why not inform him that the police aren't doing their job?

seems to me the mayor would want to do something about that.

then they'll probably take care of it, don't you think?
