It will not hurt as bad as the hip, but will hurt a little more than say on the arm. The worst area for a tattoo is the ribs, then the flat part of the chest. The brain is more interested in protecting important parts of your body. Vital organs hide behind the chest and ribs, therefor, when a needle hits that area, a signal is sent to the brain, "hey get that off of there!" Where as, on extremities such as your arms it is not as much as a threat to your brain. It also depends on the tattooist doing it. Some are heavy handed, others are gentle. The calf is cake...find the right artist and go for it!

It depends on how sensitive you are in that spot. One way to do a "test" is to get the spot waxed - you'll have to remove the hair before getting the tattoo anyway!

I'd agree with other posters that it will likely hurt less than your hip, since there's more muscle on the calf.

Yes it hurts! But probably not any more than the one on your hip did. The more "meat" under where the tat goes the less it stings. I have one on my bellybutton, one on my left breast and one in the small of my back. The back hurt more than either of the other two because of the sensitivity of the location. Calf of your leg will hurt, but should be tolerable unless you have very skinny legs :)

It depends on how high your tolerance for pain is. If you had one on your hip with no problem...one on your leg shouldn't hurt much either

I have this

on my calf. for the first while it felt about the same as having a cat claw on my leg, but after the initial sting it isn't too bad at all.

I HAVE ONE ON MY LEFT LEG, ABOVE THE ANKLE AND IT HURT PRETTY BAD. IT FELT LIKE SOMEONE WAS BURNING THE SKIN OFF...BUT AFTER A WHILE YOU GET USED TO IT...SORRY I CANT BE MORE POSITIVE, I JUST WANTED TO BE HONEST W/YOU! THE FARTHER YOU GO AWAY FROM ANY BONES, THE BEST IT WILL FEEL...JUST A LITTLE TIP.

its like thousands of needles stabbing you like 100 times a seconds and pericing your skin with very little holes. other thern that it might not hurt because after so long all you can feel is numbing in your arm or where ever.
