Sure there's a way to get around paying personal income tax. Don't have any withholdings, or make any money (except under the table), don't file a tax return. You'll get away with it for a certain period of time. And then, when you're caught, you'll be taken care of; you'll have a place to live (just ignore the bars on the cell door and windows), 3 meals a day (if you like prison food), can exercise (weight room for the inmates), use the library (prison libraries are full of info). There is one drawback though, don't bend down in the shower to pick up the soap if you drop it!

I recommend beginning with the following excellent sites:
Go to famguardian.org and investigate their extensive resources. Take your time and don't expect to understand how to work everything in 10 minutes. The web site is not easy to navigate or understand, but it has a tremendous amount of helpful information.
To answer your question: the reality is that you should protect yourself before you decide to file with zero income, or file as a nontaxpayer or stop filing. Each of these choices has backers within this community, however, until you understand these positions and what the risks and benefits are for you, you probably won't be ready to act, or you will just leap in and then find the water rising over your head. (Not a good situation). Pete Hendrickson has an excellent book, Cracking the Tax Code. I highly reocmmend that, and it will give you an in depth look at why you are LEGALLY not required to pay taxes, but you are required to file.
I use the 0 zero income return, but I do it from the stance of a nontaxpayer, as outlined at famguardian.org
Last year, when I filed the 0 return using Pete's system, I got hassled and I did not get my money back, so I strengthened my argument using the nontaxpayer logic. I will let you know how that goes, but, so far, nothing..
My major objective is to continue filing, but to stop paying personal taxes. I believe the paperwork at famguardian will help anyone do that, but you really have to be organized and persistent, because that site is a nightmare to navigate and the owneer won't answer questions.
If you look around that site and you feel that you are interested in becoming a nontaxpayer and want some help finding the right forms, let me know and I will clue you in. Good luck, Linda

The best way to get around paying taxes is to not have income. That makes living kind of difficult, though. ;-}

Yes, its easy. Contrary to popular belief, there is actually NO LAW REQUIRING YOU TO PAY AN INCOME TAX. Seriously, thats how a lot of people are getting out of paying it. Initially, they tried to pass it over a century ago, but the Supreme Court rejected it on the grounds that the Constitution specifically forbids "Direct Taxation".
