in a story today the news reports that LA has bad air because of high ozone levels. yet they are always crowing about the hole in ozone layer and how bad that is. the scinetists can't have it both ways either ozone is good or it's not.

Let me try to help ; The ozone reported by the weather man is from cars and is not ozone but NO2 . Behaves some what similar but it is not O3 which is the make up of the ozone that protects us.

Sorry I can't answer your question, but I too have heard Ozone is not good. In fact, here in Missouri Ozone is now listed on the weather as one of the breathing (allergens) good/bad list.
So, I want to find out and follow your answers.

I found the answer. Google ozone and you can get more info than you want. It says that ozone is good in the atmosphere, but not good at lower levels

Well, the actual ozone layer is good, because it shields us from the sun's radiation. However, I'm not sure what effects it would have on ground level. I guess scientists disagree, which is a good thing, becuase that's what science is for: to disagree and argue with eachother, so that they can better their theories.

its the protection area but theres holes in the ozone because of pollution
