I had a "fraud alert" placed on my credit report with all three reporting agencies, a good while back. They state I can get a free credit report (in addition to previous reports, apparently...simply because of the fraud alert)...within 90 days of receiving a letter I got from each of the reporting agencies. Which agency is 'the best' of all three; Equifax, Experian or TransUnion? Thanks. Equifax certainly seems to be the most popular, with Experian coming second. Is there a reason for that in general, or just the whole "well-known company" thing?

There really is no such thing as the "best" credit reporting agency. You need to see all three reports, as the bureaus do not share information with one another. The reports and scores are probably different as well b/c your accounts do not all report to all the bureaus. My advice is to just pull all three.
