Islam does not believe that mankind is born inheritantly evil and with a burden of some original sin.

In fact Islam says every child is born totally sinless and pure and if they were to die at any early age they would go to paradise without any accountability.

In Islam there is no concept of punishing a child for the sins of the father and there is no concept of lawful procreation(sex) being a dirty or sinful act.

Islam does not believe we are predisposed to commit sin and being imperfect creations, we are not predisoposed to absolute goodness either. On the contrary Islam says we have choice to obey or disobey God. The choice is ours either way equally. To predispose us to lean to one side would not be true freedom of choice or free will.

Islam believes that all disobedience is bad – Pride, lying, cheating etc. but mankind is not guilty until proven innocent. In Islam all are innocent until proven guilty. We are not born guilty of crimes but when we do commit crimes then there is forgiveness through repentance.

The way to atone for the sins is through sincere repentance to God directly without any priest or intercessor. God is the one who loves to forgive the sins of those who cry in repentance…..with broken hearts. This shows our humility and recognition of the Sovereignty of the Lord.

God is the one who gives strength to mankind to obey his laws and come closer to him. The only thing we need is the sincere heart felt desire and intention.

Accountability is started at the age of puberty – when children start to distinguish between right and wrong and can make choices.

Islam says that God created us and blew his spriit into our souls. If no evil were to tempt a man then he would perfectly recognize who the Lord is and submit in total obedience just as we will the second after we pass away.

Islam is therefore the effort to protect the heart and cultivate the goodness which is in every heart.

The heart is protected from outside corruption by obeying the Laws of God in every sphere of life - 24 hours a day (hadith and sunnah) and by bringing the correct understanding of the oneness of God and perfect Monotheism (as detailed in the Quran).

If that was what 'original sin' was, I would reject it also, as that is not what the Bible says it is.

The idea of "original sin" simply means that each person is born with a natural tendency within them to desire "self". Ever notice that a child does not have to be taught to be selfish, to hit, to get angry, to lie, etc? It is in their (sin) nature. Rather they have to be taught to share, control their tempers, tell the truth, etc. You state that Islam teachs that we are "imperfect creatures", and that is what is meant by "original sin".

What the Christian faith offers, that separates it from Islam, is a new birth. Rather then laws and duties which - at best - can only disguise ones selfish nature, the Chrisitan faith offers to each a new nature. The part that desires sins is reborn into a new heart that desires righteousness.

The Christian does hold a child accountable for sins commited by their parents. But it does hold parents accountable for sins commited against their children. When it speaks of the "sins of the father being visited on the children", it is speaking of the sins of the father causing consequences in the life of their child. Such as the child of an abuser is more like to be abusive when they grow upm because that is all they know. Or the children of alcohalics are more likely to be alcohalics themselves. The fathers are "visited" by the children.

Sex as dirty and perverse? Where do you get that from? Certainly not the Bible, which dedicates one whole book to the beauty of sex and sexuality. It is called the Song of Solomon. It speaks of the marriage bed as "undefiled". And it list as one of the duties of husbands and wives is to meet each others sexual needs on a regular basis. In fact, the very first thing God spoke to humans in the Bible, was a commandment to have sex. He told them "Be fruitful and multiple and fill the earth and have dominion over it." You can't do that without sex.

Sounds like you have some fundamental misunderstanding about the Christian faith and what it teaches.

Rightly said, bro. I have got to know that the original sin concept was sort of invented or proposed by St.Augustin. I believe Jesus never told it. If Paul or some other author wrote it out, I'm not obliged to follow it. The concept is very flawed. Let us say, you father kills a person. Will the court rule you out for murder as well? NO! No human being will punish a person for crimes committed by another. Now, u are talkin abt GOD. God Almighty is mighty just too. He would never do such a thing.

faith is purely component to how the human techniques and societies paintings. We additionally make the unwarranted assumption that there are human beings and set up relationships with them. No sane persons are solipsists even in spite of the indisputable fact that there is not any deductive argument for the life of different minds. no longer all religions are theistic, of direction. besides the indisputable fact that, it somewhat is as a results of alterations contained in the right merchandise of appropriate undertaking. considering all of us have a suitable undertaking, it being an ineradicable component to our nature, our determination is limited to what which would be. this is reason, human goodness, enlightenment, exhilaration or God, between different issues (e.g. the Dao). We unavoidably would have certainly one of those undertaking, the sole question is what our determination is.

I have personally witnessed some of the great love inspired by the Quran on 9/11 in Manhattan. I don't know how the world will survive such goodness.

You forgot to mention that it is OK to lie and cheat infidels.

When Jesus gave his life for all, in Christian terms, that was the end of makind being born in original sin. He took away the sins of all mankind from the original sin to the last sin to be committed before the last days.

Actually the Pope recently proclaimed that infants do go to heaven now. I don't know how he explained the whole sins of the father thing away though.

Anyway, yes, I am against the idea. And I'm also against preachers, whether Christian or Islam, please stop shoving your religion down my throat. If I wanted to know about it, I'd ask.

"We believe that men are punished for their own sins and not for Adam's transgrssion."
This is what the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints teaches. Which makes sense because if God is really just then why would we make us responsble for what Adam did.
