Nothing for eternity, no growth, no death and no change, it sounds very much like oblivion to me doesn't it to you?

Sentinel; That's a highly optimistic outlook based on very little, just a bit of an ancient goat-herders writing along with your own speculation and hope.

No challenges for the rest of eternity? Eventually I suspect the boredom would give way to madness. The christian concept of heaven is my concept of hell.

Strange how many of us have the fixed notion that Heaven is just a passive existence,I believe that it is the opposite and that it is full of activites that we could not imagine, the idea that we will be eternally on our knees adoring God and singing repetitive praises to Him just does not fit with what Christ told us,`No eye has seen no ear has heard, nor has it entered into the heart of man what God has prepared for those who love Him`
Someone once commented that his idea od Hell would be an eternal holiday, we are by nature inquisitive and productive creatures and I am sure God will cater for this tot our eternal satisfaction.

Heaven is not the same for each person. Each person experiences heaven as his or her version of heaven. What you love to do in your earthly life (that in any way is a sin), you can still do it and much more in heaven. So technically, Heaven is not necessarily a frozen place without change or fun. no aging, I think yes, But there will definately be no sin.

Yes, it is oblivion and nothing but oblivion in the heaven. And why not! If heaven had been a place like Mother Earth... there could have been a utopia where the concepts of age, sin, sufferings, death did not exist. But heaven exists in the core of the sun where temperatures exceed millions of degrees centigrade. In the circumstances can a human being in bodily form enjoy a utopia in heaven?

Heaven is not what religious masters try teaching us. Heaven and hell are interim stages in the cosmic life cycle of a soul atman within. Life in the Cosmos is primarily governed by the doctrine of karma. As we sow so shall we get... nothing less or more! If our balance of karma demands that we be born in the house of a laborer... we cannot hope to become a Princess in next life... the next manifestation... it simply cannot be!

The moment the death of the body occurs on Mother Earth... the soul atman within becomes free to manifest another body. If matching parents are available on Mother Earth... the soul atman immediately manifests another body. It for any reason the matching parents are not available... the soul atman hibernates either in heaven or hell. Heaven if the residual balance of karma is positive and hell if negative!

All is governed by the law of karma that cannot err. The soul atman that exists within our heart survives in temperatures millions of degrees centigrade. Its presence in our heart is a miracle in itself. Every soul atman is a minuscule form of God Almighty. When free... this isolated soul goes to the centre of the sun where it cools itself in temperatures millions of degrees centigrade... a perfect utopia for our soul atman within!

Hell exists somewhere in the periphery of the sun where temperatures are less... untold miseries are experienced by the soul atman which is habitual of temperatures exceeding millions of degrees centigrade.

We also need remember that only as a human being... our soul atman gets liberated. Never from heaven or hell does the soul atman directly go to the kingdom of God (aka Baikuntha in Hinduism). It is only as a human being one reaches the stage of enlightenment (kaivalya jnana) and finally salvation (moksha)... only then the soul atman within gets permanent release! The form of a human being is the highest manifest stage in the cosmic life cycle of the soul atman. More on Heaven - http://www.godrealized.org/understanding_the_whole_concept_of_heaven.html

Reading answers here give a very confused view of what heaven is.....

What is fun for one person may not be for another? So that needs to be re addressed....ie...going and hanging in a smokey bar and drinking is fun to some....to others it is not fun at all....both are correct.....

No challenges in heaven...that was never promised....so where did that come from.....

No sin in Heaven....and that is a bad thing because?

Just my rambling thoughts from reading on here

No, it doesn't sound like oblivion to me. It sounds like we will finally get to live the life we were created to live, in intimate communion with the One who made us. God desires a relationship with us and when that glorious day comes, we will finally be free from the thing that keeps us separated from Him...sin (or "fun" as you called it).

yes. to my knowledge, it is like a perfect world. i wouldn't say that there wouldn't be fun but nothing else will matter. i believe that in heaven, one's only purpose would be to serve and honor God in every way. that is the purpose of living anyway but we are distracted by worldly things. that's why there is sin.
