And I really don't mean faith of the type where something can be observed or directly experienced by anyone to be a fact, like faith that when you turn a tap on (in most cases) water will flow, or that day follows night.

Pico: I gave that as an example of what I am not talking about in this question.

Dawn W: See here's a strange thing, I also have two degrees but I think you are telling a big one... where your encounters are concerned anyway.

I do, because it demonstrates poor intelligence and a lack of being able or willing to question and think for themselves.

Turning on a tap and expecting water to come out is not exactly having faith. We look for it to happen because it's something that has been proven to happen every time before, like day following night. If I turn on the tap and water does not come out, it's because there is a problem with the pipes. It's not because it 'magically' did not happen that time for an unexplainable reason.

Why should you ever look down on anyone? To each his own, as the saying goes. If you don't believe in something based on faith alone...good for you. But if someone else does, don't judge them unfairly and think them stupid. Who is to know who is right when the "something" cannot be proven (or so I assume).

Additional comment: Wow! I too, like Dawn W, have had interactions with the "Spiritual Side", but I won't say for sure who it was. Don't knock what you don't know or understand, just let others have their own beliefs and live and let live...give it a rest already!

Here is the thing....I have unshakable faith in God. This faith is rooted in the FACT that I've had encounters with Him. He has changed my life and impacted it in ways which defy "science." I was not raised in a religious home....in fact, I'm the only person in my family who even attends church. I have two degrees and have traveled the world and I currently live in Japan. I do not lack intelligence Ms. Jen U.

My encounters with God/Jesus are FACT to me. Furthermore, neither you (nor Jen U) can prove these things did not happen. As far as I'm concerned my faith is based on facts. period. end of story.

And therein lies the issue. You don't believe me. But why? What would be my motivation to lie, exaggerate or otherwise embellish? What would I get out of that? It's illogical. But ya know, it okay that you don't believe me or trust me. I don't follow you. I follow Jesus.

Best wishes.

Faith produces the realization and proof of what I believe. It is safe to say that faith is and cannot be alone.

I would think one should feel sorry for people who believe in things through belief alone because they have no clue about faith..

You have asked around 674 questions all attacking religion in one way or another. Something is odd here. Are you a group of propagandists with too much time on your hands or something?
