I think most of them are frustrated, not having ever had their beliefs seriously challenged before, and they just don't have the character to respond like adults.

However, some of them do rise to the occasion and admit that they simply believe based on faith. I respect them for that honesty.

I think that it's particularly impressive for a Christian on this forum to act like an adult, given the pressures from other Christians to whine, complain of persecution, and lie. A Christian who can come here and still behave him/herself is really accomplishing something.

Yes. You know before I started using this I rarely thought of religion, and just thought each to their own as long as it doesn't affect me and my life. However after reading some things on here I am really turning against it big time.

Some of the things I have read and the attitudes have appalled me. Many of these people are older than myself so I thought they would know better than to behave in such a way. Some are just pure hateful.

If that is what religion does to people it most certainly is doing more harm than good.

I am a Christian and yes I have seen a lot that disappoints me as far as how Christians behave. Unfortunately some Christians are mean. Most don’t understand why they believe the way they do so they feel like they are under attack when asked questions by unbelievers. Not all of us are like that though, I promise.

I don't think you can lump "most" Christians into a group that 2 or 3 may represent on this forum. I am Christian and I hope that I would never be defined as being mean. I am a mother, a wife, a daughter, as sister and a friend. . .I am human just like you . . .I just have Jesus in my heart. . .and that does not make me mean.

For the ones who say we don't like our beliefs challenged, lol. . .this forum hardly challenges my beliefs. . .most questions on here are just to ridicule and do not challenge people at all. . .they mostly make people look very sad.

Sadly, I have to agree.

But I offer this as somewhat of a consolation, if you can see it that way.
Christians are not defined by who they say they are. The bible says that you will know a Christian by his fruits. The fruits are: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

Jesus also stated that it would be better for a millstone to be hung around a "Christian's" neck and be cast into the sea than to "cause to stumble" (read: turn a non-believer away further from Christ by non-Christlike conduct) the "little ones" (read: non-believers). There are dire consequences for Christians who don't act the part they claim.

Finally, if a so called Christian treats you badly, remind him/her/it of Matthew 7:22-23, which says (from Jesus Himself): Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'

This tells us that walking the walk is more important than talking the talk.

God bless you, seeker. And do not be discouraged by those who profess to be Christians who, actually, are not.

No way. If a Christian acts out, it is in ignorance, and so causes some inner issues to still be unsettled, and questions unanswered. Once everything is in its proper place and order (blind faith yields to understanding), to be mean would be impossible.

On Yahoo Answers - YES! I'd love to know where they've gotten their religion from because it certainly is not the Christianity that I know! I don't think that Jesus would be very proud of them going off in anger on people in His name.

Believe it or not, I'm a Christian and agree with Paul.

I don't think that christians are mean. I think that, mainly, they are selfish, mean-spirited, self-centered, and greedy. I do not like holier-than-thous.
