Not normally but I have seen it happen... 9-14 is a little too old.... if they were like babies to 7 it would be OK. Groom sometimes go just because they have to trick the bride and drive all the way out there so yes, it happens... but they normally hide in the back.

My bridal shower was traditional european. We have the groom and the ushers serve the drinks. The groom does a speech thanking the women for coming. My father was also there, my husbands dad passed away but if he was alive he would've been there too. You have to understand my bridal shower was large like 90 women in a reception hall. If it's a small shower then guys don't need to be there, however if these kids are children of the guests and they want to bring them, then they should be allowed to come.

Jack & Jill showers, where both men and women are invited, are becoming more common, but the "females only" bridal shower still is the most popular. The J & J shower is usually on the weekend, and is attended by adults, not children of 9,11, or 14.

Times are changing. I am in the process of giving a Couple Shower for both the Bride and Groom.
Where I work, and the bride works we work with men and women and I am inviting the men to also bring their wives and the women to bring their husbands.
I think it will be the perfect shower for the bride and groom.
Most of the times, the groom is left out of the planning of a wedding so I felt this was a way to include him in the process of the gifts and the party games.

I know some people have "couples" showers, but I don't think that's a good thing.
Bridal showers are usually for girls and women - probably from around 8 and up. It's just a great time for the girls to get together and have fun, do lots of chitchat.

No kids. But couples showers are ok. For my cousins wedding, we gave them a backyard bbq and decorated with stars for an "under the stars" theme because they registered for a bunch of camping gear and we asked guests to bring camping related gifts. And then we basically just ate, drank, mingled and let them open gifts. It was a few hours long and everyone had a good time just being outdoors. Whatever you do, don't make guys play cheesy games.

My MOH threw me a Jack and Jill (men and women) BBQ shower and it was a lot of fun! It's up to you if you want children there or not. Usually showers are very tastefully done so there wouldn't be any sexual content. If you are going to have children there, ask the oldest one to keep the others busy and have a room set aside just for the kids with plenty of games and coloring books to keep them busy. Have kid friendly snacks and punch.

I don't think that guys usually go to bridal showers, but it's your party and if you want them there, then have them there.
