I get married, oh my gosh, this month!!! I want to get my parents a gift to thank them for helping me with wedding plans.

I don't know what to get them-they both watch this series, and I thought about buying them the book so they could always enjoy the pictures.

You should always try to give a gift that you know the other person/party would enjoy. If that is what they are into, I think it would be a great gift. Most people would suggest something personalized or expensive. But really, how good is a gift if it is something that will not be used, or just put up in a drawer somewhere. Give them something they will enjoy. It sounds like a great gift to me.
My mom collects carousels. For helping me plan my wedding, I gave her a large carousel with a waterfall. Not a tradtional gift for helping with a wedding, but she loved it. Everyone suggested that I get her a locket or something that she couls put our wedding photo in and engrave a special meaasge to her. Sounds nice. But my mom doesn't wear jewelry, so what good would it have been to her. I'm sure she would have loved it, but she would have never used it. No matter what you give them, they will remember that it was a gift from your special day. My mom can look at her carousel, which she has proudly displayed in her living room, and remember that I gave it to her for helping with my wedding.
I think that the gift you have chosen will be greatly appreciated by your parents. The only thing I would do is write a nice little not to them on the inside cover. Good luck and I hope you have a great wedding.

Oh my gosh! Love it! It's an awesome series! You should get them the book, and the DVD to go with it. I think that would be a great gift, I know I would love it! The first DVD just came out (I believe there will be 4 in total). 3 episodes per DVD.

Instead of a book about earth, what about a book about you growing up and the influence they were on you. You can print books for very little money with Mpix.com. Scan in pictures of your childhood and in the captions tell them how much you appreciate everything they did for you. Talk about favorite memories and such... they will value this much more and for much longer than a coffee table book.

Congratulations on your wedding!

I would recommend something they could keep - some sort of keep sake might be more appropriate. But if you feel the book is right for them, make sure you write something nice inside.

The book looks really good. I had a flick through it in a shop one day. Its out on dvd-my dad bought it for his father for his 80th birthday.

Planet Earth is also coming on DVD, although I'm not sure if it is out already.
