EE is right. Add water to the pot, don't fill more than half way, then add about 4 Tbsp of Baking soda. Put it back on the stove and let it come to a boil. You'll have to watch it though the baking soda will make it boil over. After it comes to a boil clean it with hot soapy water. This usually works, this is how our chef told us to do it at school.

Boy do I know how you feel! It might take several treatments but this is how to remove burnt food. Fill with water and let soak, you might need to soak overnight. Then take a spoon or spatula and scrap the burnt food. If still really think re soak. After soaking/scrapped use a sos pad to remove the burnt food. This works for me all the time. Good luck !

The best way to remove burnt food by running hot water over it. Let it soak for about 10 minutes then pour the water out. Then you can wash the pot.

Like every problem there are so many solutions, but the easiest & most handy is just soaking, hot or cold water does not matter, time does,it will need many hours maybe overnight to truly loosen the hold of burnt food, nothing more to it,just a good scrub with a plastix scrubber & the job is done.

Hot, soapy water will really help. Just let it soak either all day or overnight. Then get a good scrubber, but not one that will mess up the pan. If that gets most of it but not all, try to soak it again in hot, soapy water. Just one of many ideas I'm sure.

I belong to a cooking group and this question just came up. The consensus was to cover the burned on food with water and add a fabric softener sheet and allow to sit overnight. About 15 experienced cooks swear this works.

Go to the store and buy some Dawn Power Dissolver. Spray it on the pan and let it sit for about ten minutes, then wipe it off. It should wipe the burned stuff right out, easy as pie.

Get a dryer sheet, put water in the pan, then put the dryer sheet in the pan and let it sit for a couple of hours. Guaranteed to work, I am great at burning food.

There's really not anything else to do but squirt a bunch of dish detergent into the pan, run HOT water into it, and let it soak, soak, soak.
And next time -- stop doing a million other things while you're cooking dinner.
