I cant speak for all christian organizations .we are all aware that there are obviously corrupt people who in the name of God sell salvation for their own agendas.Or those who build ornate churches yet demand their followers take a vow of poverty.Or how bout the church who spends $26,000,00 on a new organ, roughly 5XS the amount they spend on funding missionaries.they will be accountable to God in the end.
first of all tithing of 10 percent is an obedience to God thing.
part of that obedience is being good stewards of Gods money.building a million dollar church in a community where 1/2 the people are starving isn't an obedient Christians idea of being a good steward.
of course He is a provider and one of the ways he provides is through his people.the church i attend is a mission church, meaning that when it began it wasn't sure that a there were enough people to support a pastor so other churches of the same denomination paid a pastor(a whopping sum of $9000.00 a year) to come help start a church, this money comes from the missionary funds .So in essence GOD provided a town in need of a church with a pastor through the obedience of his people. We in turn are becoming self supporting ,have numerous positive programs for youth including sponsoring youth groups for summer camp, providing food and other necessities to the needy and sponser 3 missionaries in mexico. We are obediant to God and he has provided not only his church but our whole community with his riches.
Of course you dont want to hear this ,you want to hear about how the popes and jerry falwells of the world fleece their flocks of hard earned money to build their empires.
Well God is building his kingdom too. in the hearts of men, and one day there will be an accounting.
peace><>

Governments give power to cult leaders who can produce numbers of followers and who are then given authority to produce signs of fire from heaven to impress people (Revelation 13). These dragon-voiced cult leaders then deceive the inhabitants of the earth by giving authority to those who provide an "image" of how government agencies work to the population. Habakkuk 1 says that these government agencies who are not affiliated with religion are those that execute God's judgements. People give financial support to cults because they are intimidated to the point of death if they don't. They might not realise it at first, but society goes through downswings of oligarchy every so often (as in 1990 in Australia when there was a recession and Kerry Packer wanted to buy out the media as well), and things get deadly. The "Christian" missionary homes start taking over in full swing (like the Thirty Tyrants of the ancient Spartans). Christians are supposed to be in subjection to the superior authorities, who are defined as those whose inscription is on the back of the coins. This means that they respect the way that society uses money to feel better about itself. (Money only exists in the human imagination anyway.) They would like society to respect the fact that they want to be free to look after their families, not spending their lives slaving for the paid work system instead of facing responsibilities at home. They have other ways of seeking forgiveness than a pretty wrapped present. They like looking after animals and learning more about the beautiful culture of the world all the time.

This is different from Christianity that I call Judas-sassity because it is interested in making use of land to hide its doings, like Judas Iscariot.

This is to foster brotherhood and sisterhood within the community. Synagogues, churches and masjids are looked upon as a beacon of help and support, and people go there when they have no place to turn. It's a group effort to help people. The rabbi, pastor and imams can't possibly be expected to finance the bills of their respective places of worship, because then there's no effort amongst the congregation. The soup kitchens and activities of that nature need money to do these good works for the community. The money is not for Allah (SWT), but for us to do good works.

First of all - Grow up!

You know, as well as all of us, that everything today needs financial support. Yes, God provides - where do you expect the money to magically appear - on trees? Of course parishoners have to donate money or the lovely bank auditors would come and confiscate the property, or, the building would fall to pieces without maintanance... and even pastors have to eat too...

Come on - let's be reasonable here.

That's how God provides. The church building itself needs to be maintained. The priest, secretary, sexton, and any other people who work for the church to keep it open need to be paid. I don't know about you, but I have this thing for heating, cooling, lights, and water. Those all need to be paid for. Members of a church give willingly to help support the church, its staff, and its mission. God isn't a cosmic cash machine.

Churches were to be organisms, not organizations. Churches were to be busy about the Lord's work, not turning the Lord's work into a business. Jesus came to eradicate the hierarchy, and called us all brothers of One Father. The Body was to have many members, but One Head - Jesus Christ. Churches were to be a group of believers of various giftings coming together to love one another, and thereby minister to the Lord. Preaching to unbelievers was done outside the church (see 1 Corinthians 14:22-25 "if an unbeliever comes in"). Churches were to meet in homes primarily to keep families, God's first institution, intact. Secondly, house-churches remain intimate enough to "confess your sins to one another and so be healed"; and thus, when a stubbornly unrepentant believer was disfellowshipped, it meant choosing sin over relationships with his/her closest friends.

Jesus might have yelled at the Pharisees and called them names, but He used physical force against the money-changers in the Temple area. His House of prayer had become a den of thieves. I wonder what Jesus thinks of American churches relegating prayer to opening and closing “worship services” (and possibly one other time during the week when few could attend), in lieu of programs which “bring people (and their money) in”.

God works through people - He includes us in the creative process of His plans... and helping in this way is good for us!
Work with enthusiasm, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Ephesians 6:7

The fact that you are able to type that question tells me that you are breathing air and have nourishment for your body, so you are living proof that God is the ultimate provider.

You need to distiguish the difference between 'religion' and a building where religion is practiced. 'Religion' does not need financial support, you can practice it at home for free. The building that people go to to practice their religion is what needs your financial support.
