"God protects us at all times. He says in His word that He would never leave us or forsake us. "

ok now people say that God doesn't "interfere" and "control" the lives of people right? so when bad things happen,if God doesn't interfere, and doesn't stop the bad thing from happening to u,what's the point of even being there?

i mean, let's take an example of a person who's drowning to death.if another person is standing and watching, but doesn't do anything to help that person in any way,how can anyone say that that person loves the person who was being drowned? and doesn't God do the same thing? there are sooo many people being drowned, burnt etc...

ok now i guess u'll say that the person being drowned shouldn't have gone that far? well what if he DIDN'T go far? there have been people who drowned because they had a sudden cramp..

what's the point of "loving"people if he doesn't DO anything? just "being there" is useless isn't it? how can u even CALL it "love"?

"God does intervene - sends someone to help that drowning person! "====not every person is this lucky...there are PLENTY of people who die without ANY help at all.

23 This is what the LORD says:
"Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom
or the strong man boast of his strength
or the rich man boast of his riches,

24 but let him who boasts boast about this:
that he understands and knows me,
that I am the LORD, who exercises kindness,
justice and righteousness on earth,
for in these I delight,"
declares the LORD.

this may be what God SAYS he does but does he actually DO it? and if so,why only for some people?

You can't call it love.

Believing is self-deception, and it's equal to hanging on to a dream that you know will never come true. It's unhealthy.

But, if I am wrong, and there really is a God, then it's clear that he's sadistic, and hasn't given a damn for quite some time.

The point of being there is moral support. You know how it's easier to go through something really hard when you have a friend with you rather than doing it by yourself.

"i mean, let's take an example of a person who's drowning to death.if another person is standing and watching, but doesn't do anything to help that person in any way,how can anyone say that that person loves the person who was being drowned? and doesn't God do the same thing? there are sooo many people being drowned, burnt etc..."
Well say you are drowning and to take it a step further say God threw you into the water and now your drowning. Maybe he's just trying to teach you to swim. Sure he could have coaxed you into the deep end but would you have listened? No. God's standing there watching you to make sure you don't drown. God knows that you'll have to learn how to swim sooner or later and that's how he teaches you.

"what's the point of "loving"people if he doesn't DO anything? just "being there" is useless isn't it? how can u even CALL it "love"? "
Just because bad things happen doesn't mean that God isn't there monitoring the situation. He won't give you more lemons than you can handle. Everytime something bad does happen it's because God wants you to learn something and he knows you can handle it. This is the best kind of love he lets us be in control of everything that comes our way but protects us from the things we can't handle at the same time.

God does exist but he's not just a passive observer. In the Bible, there are writings that God actually interfered. That's one evidence that God is not just a passive o.

Today, we may not see God coming down from heaven rescuing people who are drowning, being burnt, things like these. Tragedies, as we put them. If that poor guy is "lucky", someone else might actually rescue him/her.

God probably has a plan for the person in that tragic moment. Take St. Ignatius of Loyola, for example, if that canon ball had not seriously wounded him, he would not have read the Life of Jesus and the saints, he would not have found the Jesuits, he would not have offered his life for God.

God always has a plan. If you are that person who is drowning and you CANNOT do anything about it anymore, he must have a plan for you. He always has his ways.

Leave it to him when all else fails. God bless! Always!

You make several assumption in your question. First is that God doesn't save and rescue people. Stories are reported on a daily basis in which people are miraculously delivered from deadly situations.

A few years back my youngest daughter was visiting France, a was at the top of a small mountain. A child in the party she was with climbed over a guardrail, lost his balance, and fell off the mountain. My daughter managed to leap, caught the child, and thre him back to safety. But she fell about 400 feet towards the ground below. Just before she hit the ground, she felt herself being grabbed, slowed, and set on her feet. She turned and actually saw the angel supporting her. She landed on her feet and walked away without the slightest injury. So miracles do happen, and God does take care of his people.

But there are more forces at work than just God in the world. There is a force called sin. Released into the world by the disobedient behavior of people, it has the affect of harming and killing people. Whether it is directly through the actions of a person such as serial murderer or an abusive parent who beats their child to death, or indirectly through the laws of nature (you can't breath underwater) and a stupid decision (swimming into a situation that you can't handle).

There is also a force called "free will". In simple terms that means God permits you to make your own decisions, but you live with the consequences. If you make stupid decision, you have to deal with the damage from them. God can step in and rescue you - but he is not obligated to do so. He is in the unique position of being able to see all the possible futures and know when it is the best things to step in, and when it is not.

If God were to ALWAYS step in, then there would be NO consequences for any action. Whether you loved your child and care for him constently or beat him to a pulp daily, he would grow up to be exactly the same - if there were no consequences. There would be reason to ban rape, because it won't harm anyone. There would be no reason to end wars, since they would have no consequences. The whole concept of right and wrong, of morality, and of love would disappear. The whole purpose of life - to have a loving relationship with God and with others - would be gone.

So as long as "choice" remains, so do that probability that people will be harmed by some of those choices. But there also remains the ability of a person to make the right choices, to improve themselves, to grow, and to become better. To know and experience love and life.

Those things are worth the risk.

Wow, such a big question, I do not know if I can adequetely answer it this morning. I am running on very little sleep.

One reason God does not always interfere is because of free will. God is love, because He is love He has given us free will. Love with out choice is not love at all. Because we have free will, People can choose to do things that are harmful to themselves and or others. God cannot interfere with that. It is a boundary He has set for Himself. Because He loves.

As far as stopping "bad things from happening" My family has experienced God's intervention. For example, my daughter was healed of a inoperable, terminal brain tumor, eleven years ago. However two years ago my mother died of " a very treatable cancer" Why? Only God has all the answers. I can only trust Him.

I believe that death is a victory for my mother. I believe she is actually better off than me. It is the family who suffered after her death. God has worked out many good things for our family since we lost her. Things that would not have happened if she was still with us.

All I know is that I have submitted my life to God. I have found Him to be good, even when He does not do things my way. I know that this answer is terribly inadequete. If you really want to dialogue with someone you can email me.

You have tough question to answer instantly.
For sure a super power is in existence on this universe.
We normally we take our own excuses, to find some exit for some unavoidable happenings around us.
For your info, the fate of a person is created not after his arrival on earth. But at the time of his/her parents intimate moment.
Ramana Maharshi of India passed away due to cancer. Though he lived a saintly life without harming any creature.
You can find many such incidents. All is within ourselves to decide.

God does love us and He does take action but He does not force His help on those who don't want it and some times spiritual and natural laws are in action that prevent Him from taking certain actions. You see God is true to His word and cannot break His word His Laws if he did he wouldn't be true , Holy, and trust worthy. Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

This life is only temporary. God has a purpose for putting us here -- a plan that he works toward fulfilling each and every day. He isn't overly concerned with the short term pleasure of living 80 to 100 years without suffering. His purpose is to teach us to learn to love one another. When we've learned that lesson we can live with him for all eternity in happiness and without anyone suffering ever again -- there will be no more tragedies.

In most cases God does not intervene in our affairs but dometimes he does. That's my personal experience.

We ought to be astonished by this fact: when we praise God or give him thanks for his benefits, we are not particularly concerned whether or not our prayer is acceptable to him. On the other hand, we demand to see the results of our petitions.

Why should God solve our problems? Is it God's fault that we are in this situation? What have we done to solve our problem? God is not an instrument to be used to solve our problems. God has given us everything we need so that we can live in peace and be happy. When we pray are we asking God for "what is good for us"? He knows what we need before we even ask. Does this mean we should not pray anymore? Of course not. When we pray, we should just let go and let God be God.
Peace and every blessing!

I look at questions like this and know of no way to say this other than to be somewhat harsh here.

It seems like a prime example of a person who demands that God stoop to your level and if he doesn't fit your needs, then he's not worthy of you. In other words, if God does not do the magic tricks that you want him to, then send him away???

As to how he meets my needs. I go to him and realize who he truly is. Then in reverence to him, I ask him for requests. I don't demand. Because I accept and treat him as the God he is, rather than as my servant, he meets my needs.

Think of it in terms of this way...if someone only came to you when they wanted something and when they demanded things, would you want to help that person? Would that person who only demands and pleads with you still want to be there with you when things are good and just spend time with you? If they are only around when they want something, why should you help them?

God doesn't interfere, but he won't come where he's not wanted. He is not a tool to be used to meet only our needs. God does help, but only when it's someone who treats God with respect.
