How many of you actually believe this?

the lower back has always been a popular place for a female to get a tattoo. it is stupid to label the spot. that would be like putting a label on a man who has an upper arm tattoo because most men who have tattoos have one their. they are just tattoo. a location does not or should not be a label.

I don't actually believe that, however it is what the men have dubbed the lower back tatoo--tramp stamp or the "target". The lower back tatoo's have been around for awhile, and when it became popular that is when people started making a joke of it. I think that Tatoo's are merely an artistic expression of ones self, don't worry too much about what others think.

I don't believe that tattoos can make someone a tramp, attitude and actions make someone a tramp. So I don't use the words or listen to anyone who does. Supprisinglly I don't have a lower back tattoo either, I just think that it's a dumb saying.

This "tramp stamp" thing always cracks me up. I have a lowwer back piece, beautiful design, 2 years ago I did have something added to it tho, cause I thought it would be funny, and it still cracks me up, I got "spank me " written in chinese added to my piece. I don't get tattooed cause of other people, I get tattooed cause it's part of who I am.
I am sleeved on my right arm from my wrist to my bicep. I thought about it long and hard before I had it done. I would do it again in a heartbeat. I also know it's not for everyone. And if I can't take the stares or the comments then I should of never had it done. I have a good career, good life and I put my head on my pillow at night just like everyone else does.
Tattoos are a personal choice, and if you can't take the heat don't get it done.
I wear mine with pride.

Hmmm. My sister has a 'tramp stamp' or 'slag tag' as her friend puts it. I have a large tribal piece down the whole left side of my back and an Eye of Isis on my thigh, my older sister has her entire lower back and the top of one leg done in mermaids, seahorses etc...plus the top of her back done in fairies and pegasus plus both sisters have arm bands and the older one has a flower on her thumb. All our tattoos are wicked, my older sister won best womens and best coloured at a tattoo show recently. I think lower back tatts are becoming very overdone, but then again they all are. Once upon a time it was rare to find people with tatts and now its rare to find them without tatts! But in saying that, I will be getting a lot more as soon as I have my baby. Why not? I'm married, my hubby loves tatts, he has heaps too, I'm 33...I have no one to stay clean skinned for. Just make sure you choose a tattoo that you love and can live with for your whole life. Don't just get one coz it is 'cool'. I had the picture of my back job on the back of the toilet door for a year before I got it so I could look at it every day and see if I could live my life with it. I can...it's beautiful. Good luck with your choice.

i have a tattoo on my lower back...i never even knew they were called "tramp stamps"... i had mine done in brazil & never heard them called that until i returned to the u.s....in brazil, due to the tropical weather & the ability to wear warm-weather clothes virtually year-round, tattoos are even more prevalent there than they are here...almost 90% of the women u see have a lower back tattoo, & it is not ridiculed as it is here...whatever...i luv my tattoo & don`t regret getting it at all...some women who get the lower back tattoos are "tramps"...some are not...the tattoo itself doesn`t have anything to do with the person`s morality, or lack of!!!

I'm not sure if I do. A lot of women in my area have them and they aren't tramps. I hadn't realized what they were called until one of my sons had told me. Maybe it's something the guys just call them.

it's not 100% true, but nothing ever is. it is a sign of a lack of creativity in place that you get the tattoo, and usually what it's of. how predictable is it for a girl to lean over, have the back of her shirt come up, and have a poorly done tattoo? just sayin...
