As far as the donkey probably not much. If you meant the mule. they were a major pack animal during both world wars. The had a lot of use during WWI. During WWII horses and mules were used in Europe by the Germans and other countries for pulling artillery and as pack animals. In the Pacific war they were used in the jungle fighting where there were no roads, just trails, like Burma.
Also a mule is the mascot of the US Military Academy, West Point.

That would depend on where you saw the donkey and under what conditions. The donkey is the symbol of the Democratic party (the elephant is for the Republicans). The donkey was used by the US in WW One, to pull the cannons. Other than that, unless your talking about a circus, or some drunken dream, I don't have a clue.
