Do not abruptly stop the vicodin. Cut back by one tablet every three days. This will make it an easier transition.
Here is what I suggest to get you over the worst part of the withdrawals.
The following treatment will help you not go through such agony as you withdraw from the medication.
To help with the withdrawals take hot bathes with 2c. of dissolved Epsom salts and soak for 30 minutes. The skin is the biggest organ of elimination and this will help pull out the drugs. Use a loofa to clean the pores and this will help pull the drugs out even faster.
Drink lots of water and 2c. a day of fresh carrot juice, to flush the medicine out of your liver. You can take 500mg of calcium and magnesium twice a day to help you relax. Drink chamomile tea throughout the day and evening to help you stay relaxed.
Use a powdered fiber supplement twice daily to pull the drugs out of your intestines where they can store.
Two of the questionnaires in this forum did follow this program to withdraw from drugs and it did help. I've enclosed a link where you can read their response to this program.
If you have any further questions please let me know,

That would depend on how bad of an addiction you have. If you are using just the vicodin you should be able to do it if you want to bad enough. The first answerer has some good ideas if you do not have a real bad addiction. The skin is the largest organ and this may help in your case I don't know how much you are using. I do know that withdrawal can mean much more misery than would allow you to take baths and do as suggested. When you are freezing to the bone with sweat just dripping from you the last thing I ever wanted to do was to take my clothes off except real quick to put dry ones on. Addiction can mean puking in the garbage while sitting on the toilet with the worst diarrhea you've ever thought possible. Your legs and the whole body hurt so bad you can't stand it. You shake so bad you couldn't pour epsom salts. You feel like you've been dragged through a dry creek bed. This is sure how I felt twice but the dosage exceeded 800mg of morphine one time and 25 bags a dope a day the other. Your treatment will depend on your addiction and only you know that. You may need to see a doctor or clinic and get help with meds such as methadone, suboxone and subutex if you have a bad addiction. I did the clinical trials for buprenorphine 3 x which is what suboxone and subutex is. It will help a lot. I would do as stated by the first answerer if you have a mild addiction. Don't get involved with taking more meds if you don't need to. I couldn't help but think she is talking about mild addictions as she said reduce the vicodin by one every three days. If you were taking 30 a day like I used to one would make no difference at all. I think she had very good suggestions just don't think they are appropriate for severe addictions and only you know where in all this you fit. Good Luck.

Please call 1-888-634-0011 immediately. They are an addiction center and specialize in your addiction. I understand that you have no insurance and am sure that they will be able to work something out with you. On the other hand, you pay for the Vicodin, don't you? Hon, I've been on Vicodin ES, among many others, for almost 5 yrs. now, but I do suffer from a very dibilitating and severely hurtful disease. Don't despair. There is help and if you need to talk, please don't hesitate to look me up and I'll walk/talk you through it as much as I can. Due to my disease, I am bedridden for most of my life and made it my mission to help others. Also, I am the mother of a 15 yr. old who still needs me. You can do this, just don't give up. If you don't need the meds. and take them for no other reason than to get "high" please stop now. You are slowly but surely killing yourself and pls. don't think I am one to talk. I wouldn't take 'em if I didn't have to. Take care of yourself and come talk to me whenever you need to. Sometimes it helps just to have someone talking you through it, whatever the cause may be. I promise, I'll be here. :) Good luck, MsB.

I feel that your question is so serious that only a doctor can give you the assistance you really need. As you don't have insurance, I suggest you try Medhelp.org, where you can have your questions answered by one. Some of the doctor-monitored forums on the site cost $15, but I know from experience that the Mental Health forum is free, so go there first. I really wish you the best of luck with this.

a person I know was shooting it up and got on a methadone program because she couldn't beat it. She was using oxycodone to begin with, then anything she could get. She has been drug free for 1 year and two months now- weaned off the methadone too. Hopefully yours is not that bad. You wouldn't have thought this girl would mess up like this, she studied to be a nurse and now because of circumstances surrounding the drugs she has lost everything she went to school for.
