It can be bad over time (for your teeth) you may want to talk to your MD or DDS about it. Get a night guard to help protect your teeth.

When you sleep it's a way to release tension/stress.

A dentist will be able to tell you if you grind your teeth. And yes, that's bad. The dentist tells me I've wore my teeth down by grinding them and I need a mouth guard while I'm sleeping. Also I get frequent headaches, which have been known to be caused by teeth grinding.

My children do it all of the time and where their teeth are apparently not as strong as mine, their teeth look jagged. The dentist says it's normal for small children to grind their teeth.

Hmm it happens when your stressed?
My husband grinds his teeth too, but he does that out of habit (when he is asleep). Although it can be due to stress.
You have to see your dentist because you could break your jaws doing it. They'll give you a plastic retainers I think that's what they are called. They are silicone or plastic thing that covers your teeth, upper and lower, you wear them before you go to bed so you don't hurt your teeth or jaws.
But I doubt it has anything to do with depression.
Good Luck.

There are many reasons for teeth grinding while sleeping. One of the reasons I know is that you might be having worms in your abdomen. You should go see a doctor and soon.
