I had the same problem. I even took sleeping pills and while I could sleep, I wasn't well rested. The solution? I would watch a relatively boring or relaxing movie or watch the 'extras' on it. Hearing them blab about how they made their movie put me right to sleep when I tried to pay attention. I also got one of those stupid water fountain things for my cabinet and the water put me to sleep. Also make sure you're room is cold and turn the ac way up. Made me want to get under the covers and not come out. I work nights and this works consistently. If you can't sleep well when you get off, set an alarm for what time you would want to wake up and if you can't make that time, don't go to sleep right before work. You would be dogged out at work, but you will be ready to crash by the time you get home. I also think about sex and just trying to focus while trying to **** off will put me to sleep. I also will think up stories in my head and try to follow them. Next thing I know I'm asleep.

I find putting the radio on really low, so you're almost straining to hear it, finding a talk show rather than a music station. Then listening really carefully to try and spot words begining with different letters of the alphabet, work your way through the alphabet, start at A and go alphabetically from there - I'm usually asleep before 'T'!
Good luck.

Basically you need your mind to think that its night. Make the room as dark as possible do what you would of a night time normal like eat dinner, take a bath etc etc then try going to bed. just make sure you have tricked the mind enough to think its night time. I used to be the same when I was on nights not I find it hard to sleep at the night lol.

Well, you need to unwind first. You can do this by taking a nice candlelit bath and tune into some soft soothing music to relax you. Have a snack (if you're hungry you won't go to sleep). Then close your curtains or blinds and cuddle up to a good book or magazine (this helps you relax). Also, fresh, clean linens gives you the sense of purity.

nicely it extremely is exactly how my puppy grow to be at 8 weeks yet dont problem he will quiet down quickly sufficient noticeably in case you get him fixed. that would want to ought to attend till 6 months although. For right now, go away your puppy out of the cage or crate that you practice him in (if you're doing that) so he can run around the residing house all day. Play capture with him and perchance get some type of bouncy toy which will roll round through itself and that he can play with through himself. My puppy has a lot of those.

If you try going to bed with the intentions of instant sleep, forget it as it will not work. I work with London Buses, and with all their various shifts this can screw up your body clock to no ends. I find going to bed, relaxing the mind, think of nothing not even sleep, just close your eyes, relax and drift off to nod. It may take a little while to master, but it really works

I only work nights too and have never had this problem - I could sleep anywhere anytime on anybody. I hear from co-workers that putting on a relaxation tape or subliminal sounds gets them off quickly. What ever you do, DON'T START DRINKING - it's taken me years to get over that one. There's always the pharmacy - some gentle sleeping potion perhaps? I find coming home and having a huge curry sends me off nicely.

I worked nights - use to find that a little light reading use to do the trick - try to get into habit of going to bed at same time and getting up at same time - eventually your body will get use to this routine and you will have no problems going to sleep.

I had the same problem back in college, i found out I usually fall asleep in a cold air conditioned room where the sun and sounds are blocked out. Or you can have your doctor prescribe some sleeping pills.
