Some people just have a hard time letting go, it's just the way they are. They found themselves so much in love with that person and they can't get over the fact that person will no longer be there for them. They probably can't stand the fact that now someone else will be taking their place. It's hard but over time, it gets easy. To jump into another relationship right off will not solve anything, that would be the worse thing to do. Rebound. A lot of times those relationships will not work. One day at a time, talk with a close friend about these feelings and keep busy.

It is hard to move on because not only are you hurting, you have now the task of creating a new habit. Relationships become habits, some good, some bad. Find new things to do, find something that is of interest to you, hook up with friends who are supportive, and preferrably not mutual. Find a new hobby and re-discover YOU as an individual, remembering that you are a great person, that you are a good catch and you have a lot to offer someone. Time heals all wounds, but there is always a scar. Let it heal, learn from the mistakes, and make the most of YOUR life, when you do that, someone will come along who is worth sharing it with. Good Luck!!

The brain forms memories by creating electrical pathways called engrams. When you think you take the least coarse of resistance and rely on established engrams. Since you have so many engrams connected to your former lover, most of your thoughts will associate with those engrams.
Antidepressant meds or even street drugs may block some of the emotional impact of these thoughts, but if you want a cure, try learning a new and completely different language. It works. I know.

Because 100% of your thoughts revolve around them and your going into a shell. Go out with friends and do what you enjoy, you'll never forget but you'll come to terms with it.

because because because
there is just no answer to why our hearts get so tangled up and our brains actually listen to our damn irrational hearts. as annoying as it is to say this, it just takes time. that is all it is and that is all anyone can say. it takes time to get over a broken heart. hence the thousands of cheezy love songs with that theme.
