I suffered a very long period of depression and uncertainity last year which has left a very bad effect on me. Despite al the efforts I have made in changing my lifestyle and striving to obtain goals in life, which I have done many, I still lack the zest I use to have in life. My G.P. reckons I need a long course of anti-depressants which I don't want to take, yet I have heard a professional herbalist may be able to help in a much better way. is this true?

If you feel like this and do not want to take meds then it could be a good thing to try, what do you have to loss by trying it? I mean give it a go if it does not work then try something else. Also have you tried therapy that might help to get to the root of your problem what ever it may be.

Try anything that you think may help. I consulted a herbalist when I was having panic attacks and depression. He gave me some elixir but I'm afraid it did nothing. The last antidepressants I had were Citalopram from the Doc which have changed my life - they worked fantastically well. I'm not saying you should do that, I believe in alternative medicines and have used them in the past successfully - be open to trying anything. May I wish you the very best of luck - depression is a terrible condition but believe me you can overecome it - I never thought I would but I feel immeasurably better that I did a year ago.
