for 10 years, someone I love is chronically depressed. It tears my heart when I think of her. She sees therapists and psychiatrists and has had depression much of her life, and has tried innumerable medications. Besides trying to be supportive, how can I resolve the issue in my own mind that she just might never get better?

i guess that i am the eternal optimist. i have severe depression and severe anxiety. the meds that i am on and take everyday have been helping me a lot and therapy too. is she taking her meds everyday and giving them at least a few weeks to kick in. they do take that long. sometimes finding the right meds can be hard but when it happens it does honestly help. just continue to be supportive and and know that she is depressed and that she needs help. and don't think that she can't get better she can, it might not hurt for you to get some therapy as well. that might help you help her. hope this helps

Just let her know you love her and you care about her. Pray for her. Offer to go to take her to her therapist and psychiatrist appointments. There's always hope. There's a lot of medicines for depression. She might still find the right one.

JUST BE THERE FOR HER AND NEVER LET THAT SUPPORT WAIVER. SHE NEEDS TO KNOW THAT SHE HAS A SUPPORT SYSTEM.IF YOU ARE VERY CLOSE SEE THAT HER MEDS ARE TAKEN. GET INVOLVED WITH HER THERAPY.
