First of all, how would I know the person is an illegal alien, do you think I would ask for papers first?
Second, since the majority of illegal aliens can only speak spanish, what makes you think I would be able to communicate with the alien?
Third, if I can report the alien, I must have a cell phone, with the phone numbers of my husband, and three adult sons who live in the area, why would I accept help from a stranger?
Fourth, I carry auto insurance, which illegal aliens do not. Part of my coverage is roadside service.
The answer is no. I will do just fine without illegal aliens in my country, if my car broke down.

Well, you cut right to the heart of whole controversy. I have had illegals picked up, told some to hit the back door, Everybody is right and wrong on this issue. You can bet you last dollar that if I was a Mexican National and I could make a years salary in a few months North of the border, you think I would not try. Maybe we should just annex Mexico. When Gen "Black Jack " Persing took Mexico City just before WWI, he should have welcome to the US of A. I saw a news article just this evening stating how the drug lords are taking over the illegals (??) smuggling routes and killing people. That ain't right either. It is a sad and sorry mess. On one hand we need to protect our nation but on the other hand we have always claimed to be "the land of opportunity"
You have posed a very good question and the law is the law, but justice is blind. I am going to wathc your question to see what the rest of the answers are.

How would you know for sure that he was an illegal? Just because his English wasn't good? Or were you near a border somewhere? How do you know it wasn't a legitimate tourist/traveler?
He'd be hardly likely to confess that he was an illegal. So if some guy was nice enough to give me a hand with my car, I wouldn't be assuming that he didn't belong. Or maybe you do, because people where you are aren't going to give a stuff if they see someone broken down?

How would I know if he was an illegal or not? Is this before, or after my car is fixed? Did he fix it right?
Personally, I wouldn't call any authorities.

In that case, I seriously doubt that his status would even come up. But if he or she brought it up, then problably not.
