How can I tell if my home phone is tapped?

Other than looking for a white van parked outside, lol.

You can't. In the old days a recording device was hooked up to either the phone itself or the phone jack at that location. Now the phone companies record the coversation digitally through their computers and send that information to the police.

simple. just set up a call with a friend and talk about how you plan to assassinate the president. if a bunch of men in suits with guns show up, your phone is tapped.
