It's not suicide (Jesus did it, after all). No, you wouldn't go to hell, and in my personal beliefs you wouldn't go to hell even if you did commit suicide. As a professor said to me once, "I don't think you'd go to Hell, but I wouldn't want to have to stand before God and try to explain why I didn't have enough faith to believe He would work everything out."

If you are saving someones life and you die trying, then it is not suicide. Now if you kill yourself to save someone else could be a form of suicide depending on the situation. Now if you jumped into deep water trying to save someone from drowning and you can't swim and you know it, how will you save that person? Instead you both will die. By the way, unless you are truly born again and have accepted Jesus as your savior, you will go to hell anyway. This is found in John 3:3 and in various other verses. This is not my judgment of you, but the words directly out of the Bible. This is something that the catholics don't teach and many are heading to hell because of it, according to the Bible. I renounced the catholic religion because of this and many other things. I am now a true born again, Bible believing Christian. Here is a website I would like to share with you.

I think it would depend on the situation. I mean if someone was about to be hit by a bus and you pushed them out of the way and the bus killed you, then that wouldn't be suicide. If you went into a burning building to save people and you died while in there, that isn't suicide. However, if someone was going to jump off a building and said they wouldn't jump if you did, that might be considered suicide. I mean you don't really think that if you jump and die then they won't right?

I don't think it's still considered suicide, unless you WANTED YOURSELF to die. But if you just didn't want the other person to die, I don't think it's suicide. I've never heard it said like that. if you killed yourself to save someone you would go to hell unless you believe in Jesus as the Son of God, your savior and confessed your sins.

If you knew you were going to die by saving someone else that is a type of suicide. But it is not a suicide that you can say that was in ill intent, of course there is alot of different bits of scripture both sides could pull out of context, the low-down turns out to be it would be only one good act in a land of sin. And if you didnt accept Jesus as your lord and savior, you would indeed goto Hell. But persay you did accept them, and you sacrificed yourself so that others may learn the love of Jesus and come to him then no you would no goto Hell.
Someone told me a true story before, and this isnt considered murder.
A man took his son and his sons best friend out on a boat. The man and his son both knew God, and accepted Jesus as their lord and savior. But on this boat trip the sea got stormy, and the two person boat (which contained three) was tossed about, and the man only had 2 life rings (those lifeguard things, round and roped so you can go through them) and they were all tossed overboard. The man had these two rings, and one was around him and he had to toss one to one of the boys. He threw the second one to his sons best friend and told his son that he hoped that he would forgive him, and understand why he chose so.
The man knew where his son was going, and thus ended up killing his own son in a potential situation where he had to kill someone as three people cannot fit in 2 life rings (not combined, one can only semi-support a human body and 3 on 2 would make it sink) and yet this man would not goto hell for his action. As it was inevitable and he knew exactly what he was doing.
And these two boys up front werent paying attention until he got to this story, and at the end of the conference the two boys went up to the speaker and said "That was a good story, but its obviously not true. No one would sacrifice their own son over someone elses." And the man just turned to them, and said "Yes they would, because im the sons best friend in the story. That happened to me."
If you dont believe his story, as it was a little strange for me at first (I was at this conference, but i was not one of these boys) he showed us the newspaper of his accident and it was completely legit. So his story was true to the bare-bone.
So how do these stories come to a crossing? Well sacrificing yourself to save others is a way of being a sacrifical lamb of the old testament where it let the sinner be holy (but not really because that doesnt work anymore), it ties in as being someone who would sacrifice a believer (including themselves) to save a non-believer from going to Hell so that they might come to him and become a Believer.
I hope that made sense, im running offa Mt. Dew and its 2:22 a.m. where im at >.> Only 200 more pages of this book i have to read for tomorrow (today actually) v.v

Well I'd argue at my judgment that Jesus died to save all of us and He got into heaven. And being physic (as evidenced by knowing Judas would turn on Him) He was in a way committing suicide.

Joh 15:12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
Joh 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
The words of Jesus- no one is going to hell for laying their life down to save the life of another.

Nope. That's a noble gesture. Christians are supposed to be willing to die for their beliefs, so doing something like that to benefit another believer would be a good thing, not a punishable thing.

The Bible says there is no greater love. "Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends" (John 15:13).
It's a big difference between someone who sacrifices for others and someone who gives up and self murders.
