I couldn't get the article, but found one last year. http://www.asianjournal.com/?c=45&a=11934
I never thought there is a substantial problem with illegal Philipinos before. It seems to be made up of people who visit legal residents and overstay their visas. I don't like their bayanihan culture arguement of helping others no matter what. If your in America, you need to follow our laws and culture over there own. I'm concern because the Philipinos are well organized in illegally helping legal immigrants get to the US. My Philipino friends use to tell they know people who would buy college degrees and that there is a network to help cheat to gain licenses in the United States. I wouldn't want them to use the same organizational skills to spur another wave of illegal immigration, especially with how wide spread their licensing scam is. I've seen a huge problem in the Medical facilities because of it. By the way,My friends don't like the law breakers because it make them look bad.

Last part of my statemnt is that lessor illegal activitiees might lead to far more serious ones. Illegal immigrants might lead to far more underqualified nurses working in the hospitals.

In California, Philipinos make up the bulk of Medical workers, and I work with alot of them . I estimate 20% of those I work or unqualified. Its scary to have unqualified workers in Medicine. As for nursing license, their is a self imposed sanction in the Philipines in importing nurses in the US, because they caught government officials aiding in cheating in the board exam. I got the article saved in word. If some wants it I guess i can e-mail it.

Heres part of the nurse article:
Philippines to appeal US nurse ban
Fri Feb 16, 11:34 PM ET
MANILA (AFP) - The Philippine government is to appeal a move by the US to ban some 17,000 nurses who passed the 2006 nursing examination amid allegations of mass cheating.

The United States Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) issued the temporary ban this week insisting that Filipino nurses retake sections of the 2006 examination where mass cheating took place.
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on Friday ordered Labor Secretary Arturo Brion to appeal the decision.
The order comes after a nursing review centre disclosed it had leaked answers to some students who took the examinations.
The scandal rocked the country's medical profession and cast a shadow over the quality of its nurses, who are in high demand overseas, especially in the United States, Europe and the Middle East.
