For brown rice, put 2.5 cups water for every 1 cup rice in pot. Bring to boil. Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer for 45 minutes.
For wild rice put 3 cups of water for every 1 cup of rice in pot. Bring to boil. Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer for 50 to 60 minutes or just until kernels puff open. Fluff with fork and simmer for 5 additional minutes. Drain excess liquid.

Short grain Brown Rice:
2 c. Brown Rice (short grain)
4.25 c. Chicken Stock (or broth/low sodium), Veg Stock for Vegetarian recipe
1/8 lb. Butter
1. Bring the rice and the stock to a boil, turn down to low simmer and cook for 45 minutes- 55 minutes. (Covered)
2. Add butter, and fluff with a fork when done.

And in wild rice you have a variety of long grain brown rice(s),
and other grains, really varies.

You can use a rice cooker for brown rice. You just need to add a little more water and it takes a little more time.

For white rice I use 1.5 cups of water for 1 cup of rice.
For brown rice I use 1.75 cups of water for 1 cup of brown rice.

I like using a rice cooker because the cooker will automatically switch from cook to warmer mode, but I've used a sauce pan and it's worked too.
