One common answer is they will stand up for them. what if your a nice guy and can bench press 400 lbs. and break 2x4's with your fist yet you look pretty normal. do you have to walk around and dress like a tough guy to get women to think your tough? look at Clark Kent for example. He could have protected Lois at any moment but Lois never gave him a second look. What about the old adage don't judge a book by it's cover. What happens when your little bad boy runs for the hills when the real tough guys come out? Or hides behind you?

I dunno, I'm like that also. Dunno why, but I LOVE bad boys, but not agressive type bad boys, just the 'gets arrested' or something type. I mean, you could be as strong as you like, but if you're a little coward, girls wont like you. Girls want guys who'll protect them and arent scared to get into a fight, thats why we go for them. Like for some reason I found this really cute guy hott cuz he was getting arrested. Don't get me wrong, we don't want some bulky steroids agressive freak, he has to just look bad and not be afraid to do things for his girl. Its fun to live on the wild side, but no matter how much of a bad bad boy he is, he can NEVER be agressive. The first abusive thing he does and he's out! SOOO NOT attractive. We don't want THOSE type of bad boys, just the protect me and not scared of anything, gets into trouble (arrested for example, but for something good, like kicking some guys ***) type of bad boys. And also doing stunts to prove he's really a bad boy like in the movie Heather I think it was and he was SUCH a bad bad boy!!! That was what was so attractive about him! Dunno if you've seen it, really old one (i'm not an some old lady thank you very much) only reason I saw it was cuz it was on tnt one time and I watched it and liked it and remebered the name

Ha, I'm not sure on your source who thinks that women are attracted to 'bad boys' because we think they'll protect us.
That's not it at all (at least in my female opinion). Bad boys are dangerous, the ones everyone tells us to stay away from. And so, we figure, they must be *really* fun, because all bad things usually are. Then there's the whole 'forbidden' concept; stuff you're not supposed to have is always made so much more attractive by the simple fact of "Oh, I really shouldn't..." We're not looking for protection; we're looking for excitement, thrills, and fun.
Add to that most women's maternal/savior complex to 'change' or 'fix' their bad boy (because, after all, they are the "only ones who can do it") and you've got one big equation for why those bad guys are so attractive.
And protection has nothing to do with it.

In agreement with the other two answerers. It's all about self-esteem.
A woman has enough of that and she wont settle for lying, cheating, or anything else. Only the best. Nice guys don't finish last, they get the women who respect themselves.

all those so called tough boys are the 1st to run when the s h i t gets hectic.
Real men protect their ladies in any situations from anyone no matter what the consequence.

Women like bad boys because they do not feel worthy of the love, feelings, care, and metal of nice guys. They think all nice guys are weak, but they want you as friends so they can talk to you about their abusive boyfriends. Who protects them?

Girls like "bad boys" because they like being the only one that he treats nicely. It's an ego boost. It's also a thrill to think that, as a woman, you're so irresistible that you can make him behave. Of course, it rarely turns out to be true, but that doesn't stop most of us from thinking so.

That would be very frustrating but oftentimes true. Whe I was young I go for the rugged looking, boys who cut classes because I find them very sexy. Then eventually married one of this kind & ofund out that this kind of image also reflects immaturity and lack of responisibility. Well that what aI got for being stupid.

well i still use that saying and it doesnt matter what the guy looks like its what is on the inside that counts ok! i mean i do lik ebad boys but thats only because non of the nice guys like me for me but it doesnt seem like u judge abook by it scover so thats a good thing.

I always wondered that too. It will never make sense to me. I think us men are much more straightforward in our criteria of a hot woman.
I remember football players getting rejected at my highschool in favor of 5'5" 130lb 'thugs'. It made no sense.
