We're not under the Old Covenant anymore, but God still owns everything we have anyway, and ministries can't run on nothing. Statistics show that Christians in the U.S. give only 3 to 4 percent of their income to ministries and ministry-related organizations, and because of funding shortfalls, a lot of churches, soup kitchens, homeless shelters and such are having to cut back on what they can offer people because they don't have the support to pay the bills. We're not obligated under the Law to give, but if the tiny amount of our resources that we give back to God is a reflection of how little His priorities mean to us, then we've got much bigger problems than just money. We waste so much time and money on things that really don't matter. The way we spend our time and our resources reflects what our priorities are, and if the way society looks is a reflection of our priorities because it reflects how we've used our resources, we're in pretty bad shape.

Yes, the new covenant doesn't clearly state whether we are to tithe or not; however, Jesus clearly affirmed his beliefe in the practice of tithing, Mathew 23:23. Another point is that tithing was no introduced under the Law. It was merely regulated under the law. Tithing originated as an act of faith and faith transcends both the old and new covenants. Genesis chpt. 14 tells us how abram paid tithes to Melchizedek, king of Salem and a prist of the most high god, four hundred years before the time of moses and the law. Obviously, he did not pay tithes by legalistic requirements because he lived before the law. Isaac and Jacob also lived before the Law and paid tithes (Gen. 18:19,20;28:22). What i am trying to say is we should pay tithes not because of the law because it is not applicable; but by faith. Also i am a firm beleiver if you want to reap you should also SOW! (hope this helps)...god bless

Christians needn't give tithing. Christians are encouraged to give donations to the poor and the needy. The Lord don't care how much you give, but how happy when you give.

Some pastors are lying about tithing for their own good. Do you really think our God consider money as the only method to show your love to him, as implied by those pastors? If you read through the Scriptures, you will find out the true meaning of tithing and how those pastors manipulate the God's true meaning.

Love ! = Money. What the God wants is your love to him and to your neighbors, and never your money.

First Tithing desires to be examined earlier you ever experience responsible approximately no longer giving. Tithing contained in the unique experience (previous testomony) replaced right into a fashion for the tribe of monks to stay. They worked purely on the maintenance of the temple and non secular wellbeing of the folk. hence they did no longer hard paintings contained in the fields to get food for themselves. The Lord asked that something of the tribes convey a 10th of what they had to maintain the monks alive. This replaced into continually a donation of food or different products in no way money. for those that traveled long distance they might oftentimes sell their tithe earlier they left yet have been recommended to purchase new stuff whilst they get to the large feast. The verse in matthew is Jesus scolding the Pharisees for the way they dealt with their very own mothers and dads and not inevitably approximately tithing. The Pharisees instructed their mothers and dads that as damaging to receiving help from their new child particularly they might desire to evaluate the new child as their sacrifice to God whilst they grow to be a Pharisee which suits against honoring your mum and dad. contained in the recent testomony money replaced into oftentimes extra mutually to assist the church simply by fact on the time it replaced into available. Even then they in no way special a tithe (which translated to be 10th) they only beleived in what they have been doing and gave each little thing they might. via all potential help your mom out if she desires it. we are instructed to offer freely and with chuffed hearts of regardless of we can and something you provide would be favored. If money is tight considering you help your mom out then it somewhat is high quality. Any church who tells you you're incorrect does not comprehend giving.

To give the first 10% of your earnings to God's work, usually to your church, is a blessing. It is sort of a financial partnership with God.... because if you show him that you are faithful with the financial blessings that He is giving you, then He is free to bless you even more financially. This is His way of financing His work, through keeping churches going, goodwill to others, helping people in need, etc. When you give the first 10%, it is an act of faith in Him, that He will take care of your physical, financial needs. If you don't tithe, then you are sort of tying God's hands so to speak... but if you do tithe, which blesses His kingdom, then He will continue to bless you in this financial way. We are more private about our finances than anything else in life, even our sex lives.... so in this way, it is an act of faith to tithe and God recognizes it as such. At my church, and hopefully at most, there are good stewards of the money we give and we can feel like we are helping further God's kingdom when we tithe. In all history there were burnt offerings, blood offerings. It is showing a sacrifice and faith for God. -------- It's not OUR money anyway, everything is His

Who says it isn't in both?
Tithing is a way of sharing God's gifts to us with those who are less fortunately. It is a good duty - one of the

Charity is concern for, and active helping of, others

That is why we give.
For your case to hold more merit, you'd need to show where Jesus says it is no longer necessary.
In fact, Jesus made one comment (trying to remember where)... there was a practice where people were required to care for their elderly parents. As a way around that, they would pledge all their possessions to the temple. But they were allowed to use them while still alive. This way, they couldn't take care of their elderly parents, because all their goods/money belonged to the Temple.. (twisted, but that was a practice that was occuring). Jesus blasted them for this practice... showing that we SHOULD still give/help/perform charity/etc...

I'm sure that others will offer you more places.. but you haven't shown where that aspect was removed by Jesus either.

Nothing in the new covenant refutes tithing. It does, many times, refute legalism (adhering to the laws of the old covenant over the principles of the new covenant). Tithing, therefore is a good principle and there is no reason not to learn it as such. We are taught to give in both the old and new covenant.

JESUS SAID HIMSELF THAT HE DIDN'T COME TO ABOLISH THE OLD LAWS. He never told His disciples to stop giving. He told them to give everything they had to the Lord because it all belongs to the Lord to begin with. And Christians still follow God's word from the OT and from the NT. The OT is God's word from His mouth and in the NT it is His word from Jesus' mouth.

YES!! Someone gets it!! We are not under the Law of Moses, we are under the Law of Grace! I am NOT against tithing, but I certainly don't believe that it's commanded in the NT, and Jesus said "Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's (which was the coin), and unto God the things that are God's." What's God's? "Know ye not that your bodies are the Temple of the Holy Spirit, Who is in you, Whom ye have of God, and that ye are not your own? For you are bought with a price...." Very good question, and one I've been asking Christians for years.

Priest in the catholic church don't want to work for a living. They want to be supported by the people so they put the fear of god and church into them and tell them to give. Why do members of the Catholic church take a vow of poverty yet drive better cars then most of us, play golf at nice country clubs, the pope flies around in a private jet and the vatican owns billions of dollars of securities? I'm on disability and I'm having a hard time buying food, paying rest and just trying to survive. Think I can get some money, $10,000 would help, from the church?
