I recently got a Washington Mutual credit card and was surprised that I could just check online and get my score.
Free. I don't know how often I can do that. It didn't give me a full report, of course. Why not apply for one?

It is my understanding that nowadays you can write to each of the 3 reporting agencies and they are required to send you a free copy once per year, but I haven't tried that. I am a mortgage broker, and I occasionally check mine, but we are only supposed to do that for mortgage purposes, and we pay about $18 for all 3 (trimerge).

annualcreditreport is good, but it is only free if you haven't gotten your free one in the past 12 mo. This only gives you your report, not your score.

Go directly to each bureau's website and find the place where you can pay for your report with your cc online.
