The experience I have had wasn't good.
The directions say clean the floor of all dust and oils. (Armstrong even suggested using a tack cloth)
The temp must be around 65-75 deg.
The old floor must be level.(flat)
press the tiles tightly (Armstrong suggested using a 100lbs rollor)
THE FLOOR MUST BE CLEAN and dry.

Just like the rest said find the room center and start from there. I had an old floor with chips out of it and the flooring manager at Menard's showed me an item to use to level off any spots that were irregular. The new tile will take on the flaws of the floor below if not done correctly. Tile is a job that will produce quick results. Enjoy your new room!

Square off your room to find the center. Start from the center
working your way around until you reach the walls and start
cutting the smaller pieces to finish, always sand the floor to
give it a rough finish so the glue will stick better. remove any
oil or anything that will affect the glue and smooth out any high
spots that will show a lump in the tile.

first thing clean the surface well and make sure it is dry. Next start in the center of the room and work your way outwards. use one wall as your reference for square. (due to framing issues walls are usually not perfectly square). Once you get to the outer edges trim the tile with a pair of snips and for a clean look caulk the outer edge against the wall and even a bad cut is fixed. Good luck.
