Yes.
In an effort to be cutsey, or to use abbreviations that are in fashion.
Or, as in my case, accidentally because they are crappy typists!

It's the new fad today among younger people which is a combination of laziness and internet culture.
Typing out words is far too difficult and time consuming so we have to write sentances like - Dats soo grt 4 him 2 b finally dun skool.
All of the people who have spent thousands of hours of their youth using MSN messenger are going to be ruined if they ever get a job that requires a lot of written work.
And on the post below me, shorthand is something different altogether, common internet language modifications are just laziness and popular cultural things, shorthand is useful when dictating, in situations where you're writing something down as you hear it and typing it out in full isn't possible. Writing simple sentances about where the party is that night or how hard the test was isn't quite as rushed.
And abbreviations too aren't what he's talking about I think. They aren't something new in the military.

Yes, I misspell alot of words on accident, but to try to gain my own style, I have been known to misspell things diliberately. Words like Hewwo instead of Hello and syuff like that.

I don't think so; some people are lousy spellers. Some of them really don't care.
On the internet, many people do use shortened forms of words, or something like the letter "u" for the word "you," but I see a lot of spelling errors on words that are not shortened.

Yes we do. Reason being is to shorten up a word for speed so we can write / type faster. Also,we use abbreviations for the same purpose. Right becomes rite, night becomes nite, because turns into "cause. Right side becomes R / S, etc,etc

I speak English and I never make spelling errors. NEVER. But a lot of people do. I can't account for their ignorance, but yes, it bothers me, too!
