My hairstylist is the owner of his salon. I've given an $8.00 tip for the past seven years. He initially charged $32.00 for a haircut, but the cost is now $37.00 and I still only give him $8.00. I also tip the shampoo girl $2-$3 and give him a Christmas present in the amount of the cost of the haircut every year.

Depending on where i go for the cut, mine usually cost between $20-$50, and i always tip $10. Unless, on the rare occurrence, the stylist did something extraordinary, either with my hair, or just provided excellent service. Anything above and beyond may prompt me to take it as high as $20. Also, if i'm in a situation where she finishes the cut, and i look at it, and decide i want her to go back and do some more work because it's 'not quite right' yet, i will throw in an extra $5 if she spends that extra time on me without complaint.

Well, the last time I ever went to the hair stylist was back in 1962. I wanted to don my new pill-box hat, so I asked for the Jackie-O bouffant at the Beauty Nook Glam-O-Rama Parlor, and paid a whopping $3.00 for the hair-doo, and I left a .45 cent tip. That was a 15% tip...but I believe 20% is now the standard. Due to inflation, I much prefer my own wash-n-wear look I've got going for myself now.

I have had the same stylist for many years and I am happy with her work, so I tip 20% of the total. This is probably more than what many others tip. I wouldn't tip that much for someone who was new to me.

I usually tip 20% if I am happy with the out come. 20% seems to be the norm for services such as hair, nails, massages etc.I hope this helps.

it should depend on how your hair ended up and if you like the stylist but at that amount five or six dollars would be fair.
