What causes sharp, brief, needle-like pain in left arm, no other sypmtoms. It feels like someone stabs me quickly 3 or 4 times in the arm. It has happened on and off, very infrequently, in the same spot- left arm on outside bone halfway between elbow and writs. Been going on for 2 yrs at least, but more frequently lately. Only in that same spot! Lately, more frequent, maybe every other day. Lasts only for a second or two. Last few weeks seems to travel up a nerve. Brief burning sensation in lower tricep. Again, very infrequent but wierd, like someone is sticking a needle in me and always in the same spot.

I'm having the same problem! It started two days ago. It felt like someone pricked a needle on my arm. It happened like four times sporadically on the same day in the same spot..

A few years ago my feet would have a heated, tingling sensation that came sporadically for a few seconds. I did a Google search and someone said the cause is a lack of vitamin. I took a multivitamin supplement and it never came back!

I will take a multivitamin again for the arm and see what happens. I hope it's not related to holding my cell phone. If the vitamins don't work then I'll see a doctor.

Well really to be on the safe side I would go and ask your Dr. to write you an order to go the get some blood work done. It could be a muscle problem, a pinched nerve, a clot, a tumor or a lymph node problem. Go get checked. Don't be afraid conquer it before it gets any worse.
A small little pinch in your arm and maybe 2 vials of blood, and about 1 minute can give you alot of answers.

Jim, have you consulted the doctor for this pain that you are experiencing? Except for a certified doctor, none of us here can truly give you an accurate diagnosis. This is simply because it could be anything that's causing this stabbing pain in your arm.

When you mentioned this pain, I was reminded of a certain case which happened to Larry King, and that is his ordeal with heart pain. While the intense pain happened in his right arm, what is unusual about his case is that it happened where it usually doesn't happen (it usually happens in the left arm.) What you could be having there is a symptom of a heart attack.

But again, I would advise you not to listen to any of us here. What you need to do is consult this matter to your doctor. Frankly, only he can give you a better diagnosis.

I would go to the doctor-other answers are probably accurate(that it is a pinched nerve) but the more recent symptom(burning sensation in your tricep) may very well be a cardiac condition. Get checked out ASAP, as this problem can escalate RAPIDLY.

Sounds like it could be a pinched nerve, and anything from the way you sleep to the activities you do daily can cause it. You should ask a doctor, just in case it's something more serious.

The last time I had that feeling there was a pin stuck into a seam of my new jacket that poked when my arm was positioned a certain way.

I have never heard of a pain that matches your symptoms. Maybe I have been lucky avoiding that and someone less lucky will respond with an ailment for you.
