I would like to become a paralegal. I don't know if I can study and review the same material I had when I took the Legal Assistant course in International correspondence school in 1985. Thanks for your response in advance.

Paralegal and Legal Assistant are interchangeable terms for the same position. Some offices differentiate between the two, but in essence they are the same.

There are new materials out there to study. Call a local law firm and have the paralegal help you out! I am sure that the products the you are studying are out dated. The paralegal is playing a much more diverse roll in law offices today then they were in the 80s.

1985 was a long time ago, there's so many new, different and altered laws out there. If you wanna get hired in a good position I would def. get updated. A lot of paralegals acctually get jobs before they finish their certificate as a paralegal, and with your already legal backround you could probably get a position already, they usually just have you agree that you will update your training.
Good luck to you
