The '08 Taurus X is due out in the fall of this year.
It will use the powertrain currantly in the Edge
The following is excerpted from the Ford esource book, regarding the Edge 3.5 engine:

Ford no longer makes the Taurus, but the Duratech engine does have a timing chain and they are pretty reliable engine.

yes all duratech motors use timing chains
