I thought it was extremely rude. Also a safety hazard. What if a child was in the way of a beer thrown without enough power to clear the fence? I talk smack with many other NASCAR fans. it sure doesn't get to the point of throwing things. Actions like this keeps the image of hillbillies, hicks and drunks associated with being a NASCAR fan.

Its more than rude. It's irresponsible and Its actually criminal. 15 years ago an idiot threw a beer, it hit a 1 year old in the head causing brain Damage. People need to think and grow up. Jeff Gordon is a Good driver and deserves respect as do all the drivers and teams whether you like them or not.

Rude is an understatement. NASCAR was becoming one of the largest spectators sports in America and its fans were praised for their sportsman ship, they didn't act the same as the so to say NFL fans. I'm from NY and traveled all over for NASCAR and use to brag about how nice it was to sit with a Jr. fan to the left of me and a Stewart fan to the right of me and everyone got along and had a great time, now I'm scared to go to a race, for one if Gordon wins, what will happen or if Jr don't win what will happen, don't be surprised that sometime in the future NASCAR won't have the funding to travel the whole circuit or to even air it on TV, because the smart fans are going to think twice about buying a ticket to a race because of the idiots who can't respect another drivers win

I think it was down right stupid. Now NASCAR has an open door to make even more money off of those idiots who tossed beer cans on the track. How you ask? simple. Ban cans being brought into the track totally. If that happens imagine sitting through a 500 lap race and having to buy beer in a cup for about 7 or 8 bucks a piece. Or whatever price NASCAR wants to put on it. Thank you oh so very much. My wallet will never be the same.

It is definitely just a lack of respect by fans. They don't think he worked at being a racer because he is so young, even though he was racing open wheel dirt racers when he was a teenager. And people think he is the anti-Earnhardt Sr and they were bitter rivals, when in fact they were good friends and recognized what their on track battles did to help the sport. Sr. saw the future of Nascar in Jeff Gordon and supported him as a racer. And what kills me the most is people that say he is a puppet of Nascar and a dirty driver. Gordon is one of the few drivers that has the guts to speak up against nascar in the ways that Sr did and I have to say, his driving style is very similar to the way Sr raced. Maybe they just see this guy who is so similar to Earnhardt they just can't stand it.
I don't believe in Nascar royalty, kyle petty and michael waltrip in my opinion are terrible drivers and are only on their circuit because of their names. The drivers since Gordon that people love to hate, the young drivers that do beat some of the veterans more than people would like to see are what Nascar needs. They are highly skilled racers who know how to win and do. I think Gordon is a great driver and I have seen plenty of "dirty" things from drivers other than him plenty of times. Certainly Sr would bump someone for a win, why can't Gordon do it? If Nascar races were just non-stop affairs with no cautions, no bumping and no wrecks people wouldn't watch it. I think if Sr were alive today he would be damn proud to see Gordon's continued success.
EARNHARDT FANS NEED TO BUY A CLUE.

I thought the beers being thrown at Jeff Gordon's car was hilarious. After all, what can a full beer can do to a stock car anyway. Not a damn thing. The race was over. Those stock cars go thru alot worse than being hit by a silly full can of beer. I thought it was hilarious.
In addition, it reminded me of the good old days when Cleveland Browns fans and Pittsburgh Steelers fans use to throw snow balls full of broken glass at Houston Oiler player on the field. Yankees = no class losers.

I do think it is crazy to throw things at any professional athlete.I can see both sides of the fence and I hope the Dale Sr fans realize how much they are hurting the memory of such a great leader, race car driver, champion and father.Dale sr would want his fan nation to be more of a leader in respecting other peoples accomplishments.I am also a big Dale sr and Earnhardt family Fan from Kerry,Dale jr and his sisters I would ask please stop throwing things and less bring
the Dale sr national fans back to the professional level Dale sr would want us to act like.As Dale sr would always say if they are booing you they know who you are.Remember Jeff Gordan has only broke Dale sr win record he has not broken
the most cherished accomplishment Dale sr won 7 Winston
cup championships tying him with the best driver ever to drive a race car (King Richard Petty). So lest bring the Dale sr fans back to a professional level and make Dale Earnhardt
Senior proud of us once again.

It was very rude and dangerous.
What if one of the hicks from the grandstand throws his full beer can and it doesn't make it to the track and hits some little kid down in the front row.
I can't wait to hear those fans cry when NASCAR bans bringing your own coolers to the track and the only beer you can get is in a 12 oz plastic cup for $5.50
But they'll probably blame Gordon for that too.

Put it this way. Barry Bonds is going to break Hank Aaron's HR record this year. Everyone and their mother KNOWS Bonds is doing it dirty.
I pray that Bonds breaks the record on the road because it WILL be a VERY ugly scene. It will also show the MLB even more disgust on the fans part that Bonds is still allowed to play and break records...which brings me to...
Hendrick Motorsports. Biggest cheaters ever and they are pretty much allowed to get away with everything(yet, they TAKE a championship from Mark Martin and Roush Racing). Not to mention Rick Hendrick himself is a convicted criminal that is only free because of a Bill Clinton pardon. This team should've been shut down...yet they're allowed to thrive for NASCAR and even aided by them(such as the debris cautions and WAITING for Gordon to pass McMurray before throwing the yellow to win Sunday)...There's a reason fans are pissed. NASCAR is playing very unfairly and they are now doing a very poor job at concealing it.

Very rude and ignorant! They were throwing cans at the other drivers as well. Mostly Jr fans. This is why they have such a bad reputation and are perceived of as being stupid. They do nothing to help their cause. Tony Stewart was recently complaining about Jr's fans. At a race, his fans are the most obnoxious.
