Iran has been known to persecute the local Jews from time to time, but they don't make a good scapegoat for Iran's problems.. Iranians are very proud of their culture, even the parts that are very not Muslim. The islamic government does not really have a way to make the people there truly hateful of Jews in general, or even Americans in general.. Most Persians pretty much ignore the government and the politics of the world, including the Jews there.

The Aitola (sp?) when he took power made it publicly clear to the Iranian people that there was a difference between the religion of Judaism, which he said was a divine religion revealed by the prophet Musa (moses); and the secular political ideology of Zionism which sometimes misuses Judaism as an excuse for its nationalist actions.
The current President has also made this clear multiple times.
The general public in Iran sometimes gets the two confused, and this is something I feel is important to prevent, unfortunately there is a country in the middle east, namely the State of Israel, which benefits from people being confused over the issue. They can gain immigrants for their conscript army, and excuses for their wars if their enemies get confused and hurt Jews who don't agree witht their politics.
Generally the situation is reasonable for the 26,000 Iranian Jews, there 6 kosher meat plants, twelve synagogues, one parliament member, chief Rabbi, and the tombs of the prophets Mordechai and Esther which are covered in gold and blue porcelain. There was even an article in the Jerusalem Post 2 years ago regarding Persian Jews who had immigrated to the Zionist State returning to Iran because they felt it offered better opportunities.
There presently is a shortage of Rabbis in the community. Neturei Karta is working to make up for this shortage by training local jews. The effort to make up for the shortage of ritual circumcisors and classical Jewish literature has already been very succesful.
Unfortunately, we don't have the massive amounts of money Zionists have, so getting Jews in Arab countries books usually means waiting for a gentleman in Jerusalem to eat one meal a day for 3 weeks and donate the usual food bill so we can import a Shulchan Aruch. With the grace of G-d, we are working on a printing press.
(The reason for this shortage in religious leaders belies the idea they are persecuted - Most Iranian Jews are far more interested in becoming succesful in business than in becoming clergy. They are what I call "Sephardi-secular." When sephardi Jews are secular, it usually means they believe in every detail of the Jewish religion and feel it is important, they just can't be bothered right now to keep it. When they hit 50 they get more religious.)

The Iranian Jews don't act very "Jewish" to them. The services are mostly in Persian and not Hebrew, since most Iranian Jews don't speak Hebrew well, as one example.
Not to mention Ahmadinejad thinks that it's only Zionist Jews that are evil (though how he differentiated between Zionist Jewish Holocaust victims and non Zionist Holocaust victims when denying the Holocaust is beyond me)--since the Iranian Jews are still living in Iran and have no desire to go to Israel Iran doesn't really care.
