Electricity is supplied to the armatures of generators through brushes & rings. Why can't continuous wires be used for this purpose?

There are generators which are brushless. The power is generated in the stator (stationary part) and directly connected to the switch gear (breakers ect).

Because the armature of the generator rotates, if it were connected by continuous wires it would not be able to rotate. Brushes are used because they can maintain an electrical connection while the armature rotates without physically preventing the armature from rotating.
