Those that never hear the gospel before they die will not be saved. God's word is the breath of life and if the word of God does not come to us there is no possibility that we can attain eternal life. The scriptures state that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. Without faith we are not saved since that is the characteristic mark of a Christian.

God has elected and predestinated people to salvation and it is only by God's grace that we desire to be saved and to be a Christian in the first place. Therefore even if the gospel did reach people in countries that are not exposed to the gospel, they would reject it.

I guess the bottom line here is that those who end up under God's judgment never desired salvation. No one can ever say at judgment "I wanted you but could not find you." or "I wanted you but never had a chance because the gospel never came to me."

And thank you for asking so politely.
You have asked a question that most Christians will not be able to answer, I'm afraid, since, like atheists, most Christians reckon without the power of God.
Why do you even imagine that any of the folks you refer to could not possibly have had any interaction with God, unless they have a Christian go-between? Or did you think that the ancient men and women who communed with God regularly had some sort of exclusive?
Of course, there weren't an atheists around back then to tell them that such a thing was impossible. Just as nobody has yet been able to explain to the bumblebee that he is totally incapable of flight.
These questions become ridiculously simple when you add God into the equation, and completely impossible without Him.
No, God is not condemning countless millions of people to hell (which is actually just the grave, but that is another subject), simply because no Christian missionary ever managed to penetrate into their jungle homes.
OH, and,
You are quite welcome.

Different denominations would answer this question differently, you already have the Catholic Answer. The fundamentalist answer is that God, in God's grace, will make sure every human being on earth has one chance to accept Jesus, and every person takes or leaves this invitation and is judged accordingly. Some more progressive Christians believe that there are many paths to God and a God beyond our understanding will honor all of them.

As I see it, there are those who never have actually heard the word of God who are capable of responding to it. How? Well, how does anyone respond to the word of God? Through the Spirit. Without that, we wouldn't understand s#it. We would not be capable of valuing God's word. We are incapable, due to our nature of responding to God, let alone believe in Him. It's not human nature to want to come after God.

Now the Bible tells me something about God, that He is going to have a certain number of everybody there with him forever:
Revelation 7:9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;
10And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.

So not by human effort did they become God's people, but only because God was able to call them according to His purpose.

It is sad, but those people die & go to hell, according to the Bible. That is why it is the Christians' duty to spread the gospel to every creature. This is a commandment and not a suggestion.

The harsh reality of this statement should prompt more Christians to be more bold in telling others about Jesus. The Bible says that if I do not tell them and they die, their blood is on my hands (Ezekiel 33:8). I would not want to be responsible for someone else's soul in hell. Jesus has already paid the sin debt and all they must do is accept his free gift of salvation. MY job is to tell them about it. Whether or not they accept Jesus is their issue.

The Bible says that we are tell others of Jesus and what he did to bridge the gap between God and mankind. But the salvation of others is not dependent on any person or evangelistic group.

Look at Romans chapters 1-2. Paul talks about how God has revealed himself to all mankind, and all mankind has some knowledge of who He is, what He's promised, and what He commands of us. The scriptures say that God has revealed his Word through nature and written it on the hearts of mankind. Even if a person does not have direct access to a church or to the Hebrew scriptures, they most certainly do have access to God. God will save ANYONE who is open to him, if there is no Christian outreach, He will find another way.
