90,000 isn't that bad for a used car, especially looking in cheaper price ranges. Really depends on what kind of car it is, how it was driven. Some cars are made to go 200,000, others need new everything at 100,000. I imagine you don't have a lot to spend, so I wouldn't be too discouraged. When I was searching for a car, it was difficult to find anything with less than 100,000 in my price range. I ended up with a Ford Explorer with 98,000 miles (they're built Ford tough!) The most important thing is to have the car looked over mechanically before purchasing it. But if you're staying under $10,000, you're probably not gonna find many cars with less than 50-60,000 miles. So 90,000 isn't really bad.

It depends, the DMV advises that the average amount of mileage per year is 12000 - 15000. So a 6 - 7 (1999) year car would be right around that mileage. Plus the make also matters. 90,000 on a honda or toyota means that the car usually has a lot of life left on the engine and other important parts while 90,000 on a car such as a kia or hyundia is highly discouraged.

It really depends on the car. If it's a Honda, Acura, Toyota, Nissan etc. Thats considered a little and you have PLENTY of miles left on it. But if it's an American Ford or something, that is considered a little over avg. but is still usable.

At 90,000 miles, it's going to be a garage queen. Be careful.

Be careful or you'll spend a lot of time fixing it by becoming a mechanic or spending a lot of time at the repair shop. It really depends on the type of vehicle it is.
