I was wondering if .... because of society's condemnation of gays that .... gays would be attracted to a vocation ... such as the Priesthood ..... because it would allow these men to hide their disinterest in women ?

Interesting question.
These men appear to be pedophiles not homosexuals. However, if Priests were allowed to marry you would have a lot more heterosexual Priests.

Less then a 1/2 % of priests are homosexual and these were the pedophiles. The majority of all the priests in the Catholic Church are celibate heterosexuals

i don't think a majority of Catholic priests are gay. To me ban on marriage seems silly, the priest should be setting the example, wife , kids.

I believe that some people are given the gift of celebacy, gay and straight, and that many of these become Pastors, Priests, and take jobs of service. It could be that some without the gift of celebacy would choose service especially if they are self hating and buy into the story that God didn't create them the way they are ... however, many of these are weeded out in Psyc. testing.

I think that the majority of Catholic priests are *celibate* because of the ban on marriage, I think the majority of them are "normal" otherwise.....They are required to abstain in any case...

I would guess only a very small percentage of priest are gay...even though your theory makes since...I'm sure most are normal heterosexual men that have just responded to the call God has placed on their lives

No, I don't agree with your theory, however I don't see how it really matters anyway, they have taken a vow of abstinence either way.
