I have taken him to two vets. He has been on antibiotics and wormed. He has had a humidifier. He is now starting to drop weight and is anemic. After my last visit to the vet and 100's later, I found some evedence of fleas. I put flea med on him and he had a vitamin b shot. My other cat is fine.
I am at my wits end and can not get him better and the vets do not seem to know. They say his lungs are clear? The wheezing never goes away so he is not getting any relief. Even so, he is eating and drinking normally and no problems with bowels. Someone please help!

I am not looking to put him down because besides the fact that he is wheezing and now is anemic, he is eating and drinking normally. He is a bit slower but otherwise ok. I am hoping someone with a similar problem can help. Thanks.

Could be cancer, have you had actual x-rays as opposed to a vet just listening with a stethoscope?

I'm not easy with the weight loss or the wheezing. But there are special foods you can find at the vet that have a lot of calories concentrated in a small amount. It's expensive, but it might help with your kitty's weight and anemia. I tried that on a kitty I had once that was very sick. And I firmly believe that if she had had a fighting chance of surviving, the food would have helped her.

Since then, I gave the rest of her special food to my mother- who had an elderly cat who has difficulty retaining nutrients from food. And it did seem to help him.

Have you asked your vets to X-Ray your kitty? That might turn up something.

Good luck!

Has he had x-rays done? Sometimes animals can get an enlarged heart and it presses on the lungs causing breathing problems, this can be seen in xrays. IF he had a severe infestation of fleas then that may have caused his anemea. At least he feels well enough to eat , most cats lose their appetite when they are ill.

This might be a bit of a stretch and it wouldn't explain the wheezing. If his eating habits haven't changed and he's still losing weight it might be a tape worm. I'm not sure if that falls under the deworming you mentioned.

You didn't say if he is still active or does he sleep all the time.
If he still plays and goes out or moves about the house then he is probably just getting older. I lost my sweet boy last year at age of 12 due to heart disease and still miss him. I sure hope he gets better soon.Just give him a lot of love and cuddling.

She is still recovering from the surgery, so she may be a little irritable. The male cat is simply trying to take advantage of her weak state. Both should return to normal in a few weeks.

Poor kitty....I agree you may need another opinion, and get and x-ray for his lungs...13 is old, but not too old for a cat (yes, for a dog). before making any desicion, try to look for the best vet you can...They are scarce (no offense to vets) but I came across very unprofessional vets that do not make the appropriate diagnosis...Good luck!!

well if you think ur cat is suffering then maybe you should put him to sleep. lots of pet owners think that the pet will get better but the thing is they never stop to think whether the cat wants to go through with this or whether he is just to old.

I'm sorry to say but it looks like the end for him. 13 years is pretty old for a cat.
