Help!!
Just returned from Mexico last week. Last week of November 2006, came upon a kitten less then two weeks old. A truly bonding experience, what with bottle feeding, stimulation, potty training, ect. She's truly a sweetheart.
Neeners has rarely been out of our sight 24/7 since, but has been in other's company a few times. We are now in BC.
Neeners nipples are HUGE. I have yet to take her to the local vet (though she did get all shots required while in Mexico.)
She's very tiny still and I am a little concerned that she may be preggers...I know NOTHING ABOUT THIS... Anyone know about extremely swollen nipples in a 5-6 month old? Could she be pregnant?
Thanks in advance for any advice,
mam23......xoxo

yes, she could be pregnant. kittens can have their first heat as early as 4 months old.

why didnt you get her spayed??? you could have gotten her spayed at 12 weeks.

this is not good news. she is not old enough to breed - a litter could seriously damage or even kill her because she is not fully developed yet.

If she has only just fallen pregnant you can still have her spayed (which will obviously stop the pregnancy) - ask your vet if it is too late or not.

if you continue with the pregnancy, be prepared for a big vet bill and a possible dead cat if anything goes wrong.

Well I guess the main question is, has she had the oppurtunity to have been around a male cat?
First of all, are you sure she was only two weeks old? Kittens that young usually will die if not with the mother.
Anyway, if your cat is 6 months old then she could be pregnant. It is usually a birth of one or two at that age and not a good thing for her health and the kittens. Take her to the vet to get checked.

Sounds like it. I once had a smallish barn cat go into heat at about 4.5-5 months old. I even had her spaying scheduled the week before. She exhibited nipples after about a month. Our vet said that it was not uncommon for females to go into heat early if they are around a lot of male cats (ours was, although we had only 1 intact male out of ten) She successfully delivered a litter of four. We spayed her shortly after that. If you are concerned, consult a vet.

If you get her spayed NOW, you won't have to worry about this problem ever again :) Yes, you can spay a pregnant cat. 5-6 months is about the time your cat would have her first heat cycle, and it is definitely possible she is pregnant.

A cat in heat is hard to miss...did she have a phase where she meowed a lot, REALLY loud? Was she very affectionate during this time?

Could be...has she been around male cats? Or she could be getting ready to go thru her first heat. If she already did this, then you may have to play the waiting game. Cats are usually pregnant for 58-63 days on average. Good luck.

Have you breed her? Has she been mated. My females nipples got swollen because they started to go in heat. I know this because my cats are in heat right now and there nipples are swollen. If you think she is pregnent though then get her checked out.

Please take your kitten to the vet and have her checked out. If she is not pregnant, she should be spayed.
