Of the majors, Sam Adam's has a pretty good collection...brown ale, cherry wheat, black lager (I think that's what it is), then they have different seasonal beers and of course the standard sam adam's. However, I don't think I could select one specific beer to represent the US. There are so many unique styles of beer that I would have to choose several different beers (at least one for each style). If you want some perspective, find a Giant Eagle (yes, the grocery store) and check out some of the yummy beers they stock...lots of little breweries making some yummy beer.
In reply to what someone else said...Corona can't represent the US because it's a Mexican beer.

All you may want to do is purchase a intense power yeast, quicker or something they are suggested as, available from forte brew shops. issue is the yeast will only ferment until eventually both the sugar is all metabolised, or the alcohol concentration kills the yeast. Use one in each of those floaty issues, that is been years considering that I made beer to confirm how a lot sugar you purchased left vs how a lot alcohol... perfect element is determining to purchase a intense power brew I used to make 9-10% beers that were quite tasty & truly flipped you up. Mucking round with off the shelf beers aint gunner do it, gotta get a superior malt, not corn syrup!

Well, until you said Well Known, I would nominate Ying Ling out of PA. But since you said well known, I would have to agree with you, Sam Adams. # 1 because there are so many types that you could enter numerous beer types. # 2 If I'm not mistaken, I'm pretty sure that it has already won a few international beer competitions.

Miller Light. In 2006 It won the World Beer Cup for "Best American Style Light Lager" ...... for the fourth time. I think that sums it up right there, if were wanting an american brewed beer to represent the US why not go with light beer since it was basicly invented here. And if we select a light beer why not choose the one that has won more World Beer Cup awards than any other light beer.

Wow, every beer mentioned sucks. According to www.beeradvocate.com, the worlds largest beer comunity, the best beer brewed in america is Dark Lord Imperial Stout from 3 Floyds in Munster Indiana. I have tried it, and it is great.
BeerAdvocate is a huge beer comunity that lists beers that can be reviewed and rated. The to beer list is just tbe beers with the highest average.

I would go to beeradvocate.com
real reviews by real people...
in college i drank MASS quantities of the cheapest available...my tastes have refined since then...
once you find "good" beer, it depends on your style...i personally hate belgian style while many americans do....
Of a purely mass produced beer, sam adams is the best...otherwise it depends on your location...for example in NY I would say upstate the Midevial times is the best brewer and in the NYC/LI metro region the Black Forest Brewhaus is the best...
